So i am thinking if i should replace my existing router to airport express. It works as as router too am i right? How is the settings configured in terms of the wiring? Thanks.

You will need to connect the Airport Express to a modem, as it works as a router only. Setup wise, you will need Airport Utility, which is preinstalled on Mac and available on the App Store for iOS devices. The highest version of Airport Utility for Windows is 5.6.1, not sure if its compatible with Win8.

Airport Express does work with windows.

Do note that the WAN & LAN are "Fast Ethernet" ports(i.e Base 10/100BASE-T), so your maximum connection speed will be about 100Mbps..

Wouldn't recommend it if your subscription plan above 100Mbps.

Might wanna check Apple's online Refurbished Shop for a 5th gen Airport Extreme Base Station(release Jun 2011) instead, at least it's with gigabit ports and quite good priced.

Hmm that means i cannot connect to the wireless network fro my windows pc if u use the airport express as my wireless router?

Yes you may connect to the wifi from your Windows PC.
