Hi, anyone had experience with Tokyo Shuttle bus or The Access Narita bus from Narita Airport to Tokyo Station. I have a very early arrival for my upcoming trip & was planning to hop on the bus instead of the regular N'Ex as my check-in time to my Air bnb apartment is 7 hours away. Understand both shuttle have a restriction of 1 luggage not more than 20kg & carry-on bags must fit in the overhead compartment or under the seat. I will be travelling with 1 x 28" & another 1 x 20" luggages. Judging for the pic i saw from their web page, i don't think my 20" is able to fit into the overhead compartment. Are they very strict with this issue?

We took twice The Access Narita to Ginza. Very smooth ride. There is luggage storage compartment and for both our trip, they didnt check the weight of our luggages.

Hi lsharon70, may I know how many luggages did your group checked in for under vehicle compartment & is the space on overhead compartment big enough to fit in a 20"

Normally the porter or driver will ask u alighting at which bus stop....

Then they ask u how many pieces of luggages n they pass u the tag number...

Three or four or five pieces is ok for them....

They only worried odd size n fragile luggage......

Thanks for your input Hetheone. I thought that should be the way but until i found more information on their web page. May i know is it your personal experience, did u checked in more than 1 pc of luggage?

The information given on Tokyo Shuttle bus web page is:

* We have a trunk room in the shuttle; One (1) piece of baggage (suitcase) is checked free of charge for adults and children. Please use the courier service if you have additional luggage.

* Passengers shall not occupy the seats with their luggage. Carry-on bags must fit in the overhead compartment or under your seat.

And The Access Narita web page is:

•One piece of baggage per person can be loaded on the bus. The maximum allowable weight for checked baggage is 20 kg.

As suggested by the shuttle service, why not you use the courier service to deliver one of your luggages and just travel with one? It is probably about 1000~1500 JPY to deliver it.

Kifo, isn't travelling by N'Ex easier, faster & chances of losting my luggages is zero. I'm trying to source for a way to travel cheap as i'm not in a rush to do my check-in & at the same time i can take a nap during the journey. I would be grateful if you had suggested using the Keisei Line instead.

These 2 bus companies are budget services. It is obvious they are providing limited services only. You can choose to take the airport limousine service which I think will not have any issues with luggage but I guess you want cheap.

Sorry I wasn't much help to you. You should perhaps take the train then. When I traveled cheaply, the first thing I often give up is comfort. Maybe you need to do the same.

P.s. the other poster might have confused with the airport limousine service, which probably don't have a luggage limit.

I prefer train over bus no need to worry of traffic jam
And train rarely or never got accident unlike on the road
Unless maybe weather issue
Ike snow or thunders

And not all bus stop st all hotels too

"Access Narita" is the Service, the buses are labeled "Kanto" or something. I wasted 30 mins seeing 3 buses pass me coz I was waiting for an "Access Nartia" Labeled bus to arrive. LOL!

As for luggage, I've never tried more than 1, but have seen conductors explain to others that the limit is one. Can try asking. If cmi, then go back down to buy Narita Ex' Tickets, u have time anyways.

Actually, people there not zhi dong 1. I paid and board the bus, no seats. Why? everyone take 2 seats. 1 occupied by their bag.

I had to ask one of them to remove their bag.

Edit: i recommend putting both in the luggage compartment/check in. Bus can be full at times and it will be a hassle to unload and pass all those people. Also, keep to 20kg limit per luggage. Poor guy has to load and unload all the bags.

Thanks you, kenchi & tc4237.

My Plan B was to pack my stuff into the 20" & the 20" will go into my 28". Plan C was just like what you mentioned if both Tokyo Shuttle bus or The Access Narita bus denied my access then i'll go for the Keisei Line.

Wonder what time does Yanaka Ginza Shopping Street near Nippori Station get busy?

Yanaka Ginza is a very short bazaar street. Can complete within 15mins of slow walk but the good best thing there is the fried pork burger (without the bun). It cost like 500yen (I think) but it is awesomely delicious so much better than any restaurant I have eaten there. Weekend there would be crowded and queue. Pretty small and quiet and nothing much to hype about.

After Yanaka, I proceed to Ikebukuro (J-world) for some anime fun...

The Yanaka area is more than just the shopping street. If you like exploring local neighbourhoods you can spend a couple of hours walking the whole Yanasen area. Start out from Nezu shrine and walk towards the Yanaka Ginza stretch.

Oh.. Wow. I didn't know there was a cheaper version keisei. I was comparing skyliner.

Bus might be faster depending on destination. Bus to Tokyo about 70 mins. Keisei, from the picture, stops at ueno. Then again, my bus trips didn't have much traffic.
