did you customise any options? local retail running low on stocks my only concern is the ssd but now saw the 850 evo coming out.. might wait 2 more weeks before hooting the set

No. I got the default options. There weren't many options available. Even the processor couldn't be changed.

Congrats! so you already had 2 days playing with the AW 13? how is it? can you share your personal pros and cons?

I only managed to play on it for about an hour. The full hd screen for a 13 inch makes the details a bit too small for my liking. When I played D3, I reduced the resolution so that the cursor will not be so small. The hardware is good enough for a casual player like me. I like the sleekness of the laptop. It is even thinner than my m11x and it's just so easy to carry about. I'm not a fan of windows 8.1 too. :p

the fans' quite noisy but bearable. The heat dissipation is good. I like to play on the bed and the area where it sits on doesn't get too hot.

the new broadwell cpus that launch are only dual core cpus. so performance wise might not be as good as the 4th gen quad core cpus but definitely uses less power hence longer battery life. will have to wait till 2nd half of 2015 to get quad core broadwell cpus

Think twice...

I recently bought it, but within 26 days of using it the hard disk was locked and is now an expensive brick.

The main problem is that it is a good computer with crappy customer service that is only online and requires you to call their never ending dell customer service hotline.

So now,I was told to wait for about a month cause the parts are not available
 So think about this first.

sorry for your troubles bro

so it was the HDD that was broken? if so, you should be able to replace it easily with an SSD and recover the OS via the USB recovery (hope you got one)

did someone from dell tech support remote into your AW 13 and diagnosed the problem?

if opening up the laptop is not your thing, your warranty should cover the next business day home visit by a dell technician

Hey I just realised that there was reply.

An update of what happen:

At that point of time, the HDD was broken to the point where I could not use the recovery files of the OS on the USB. After much explanation to the technical support, they decided that they should get their people down to fix the laptop.

The technical support person came down with parts for a different laptop but replaced my HDD anyways saying it was the same part.

After which, it was working for a while, then guess what? The HDD got locked again. Gave up and went to the shop again and asked for a replacement.

To sum up my alienware experience:
3 week wait for order + 26 days usage + another 3 week wait for replacement

To think I just played two dota matches on that laptop.
