All Nikko area pass

I will be visiting Nikko again.
The last time I was there was in 2018.
Now the pass that I am asking seemed to have changed.

It says the pass is :
Valid for only 1 round trip between Asakusa and Shimo-imaichi.
Unlimited rides in all other sections.

Then it says:
Pass is valid for regular trains only.
Please purchase an express ticket when using limited express trains.
There is no direct service to nikko by regular train.

This means the pass is essentially useless between Asakusa station and Shim- imaichi station, right?
Who would wanna waste time taking the regular train which is not direct?
As for the regular train, anyone knows how to take it and how long would it take?

I had JR pass that time, so I took shinkansen to Nikko and gotten just the bus pass from Tobu Nikko Station.
