Its just about aesthetic see the company focus on which direction
Microtik the focus not on UI - its like professional software we use at work, meant for the backend ppl see only. But then the winbox 4 beta - has a much nicer interface now, they also recently updated the looks to be more flat and minimalistic (hence modern)
Route10 interface presentation is definitely nicer in the long run, so long as they will iron out the UI kinks and quirks.
Lol which is why im not dinging them for the UI but rather a personal peeve of mine : PANW and other b2b stuff ive played before , its nowhere as "intricate " .
Neither, do i agree they need to forcefully update their UI immediately : Having feedback from those end users and B2b to streamline [ like what ubiquity did or firewalla did ]
Mikrotik , I am very impressed, no issues for past 3 years. I'm surprised u used those rubbish asus products from start, their AP,routers are just gimmicks. No state clear PPS as well. AP, use ubiquiti or Omada sibei stable, I remembered smashing their ac5300 8 antenna routers few years back. Smashed 3 until dulan went for ubiquiti then omada lol
Share your firewalla experience, now this route10 IDS drops almost every peer IP when torrenting, not much of a use, firewall's firewall sakit boh? and what's the temperature like? Route10's operating manual say until 41 degree, with no fans on this thing run up to 55deg in Singapore's weather, had to use fans bought from shopee and put it on top of it manage to get it to 35 deg.
@ShapeShifter lol , admittedly im those gamer bros in the past, however dont for 1 second assume that the pro-sumer was friendly from the Linksys era eh./
the Elitism was epic whenever i tried to ask....
answers were machiam learning some hidden kungfu but end up really just bad explaination and examples from the boomers.
My use on Firewalla Purple and now Gold Se, is just amazing, not to up sell them, too much haha ... :
- Ease of use
- UI UX is great [ not perfect ] such as the Site to Site is horrendously documented [ doesnt give proper explaination in layman terms.
- Use of Dockers etc, which i have done, for the Unifi Controller, SO MUCH easier to manage now.
if done some speed test in the unifi thread, and the amazing thing is the granuality it allows , sure one might not be professionally trained, but the punish for whiffing your command and other input can be remedied quite easily.
Same for Unifi and hhopefully Mikrotik ..... [ full reset, restore from backup that works ]
Temperature , now at home
and htop
and its loaded with other settings and dockers.
And as mentioned, i was a Gamer bro, to now a pro-sumer wannabe [ still am , but just want peace of mind for home security ]
no fans, just locked room, no aircon unless is night time sleep.
Guys,
Please allow me to add- while being the distributor for the various brands mentioned for various countries (Alta-Labs, UI, Mikrotik).
There bounds to have bugs here and there. Fixes are being done on a daily basis as they are found.
Documentation is lacking as the software is moving way much faster than the technical writers can catch up (from experience). Will follow up with YT video to fill in the gaps.
Sorry, I can't cover each and every single topic individually.
Please give them time to improve. This thread has been brought to their awareness.
Thank you.
Jason

Haha, Thanks
@mrkiasu
i Cant say much for Mikrotik,
but for Unifi, their recent UI changes are quite [ odd ]
e.g if im looking at my AP, i want EVERYTHING related to AP , radios, scan to be there..... not on a separate settings else where.
and if its LAN , just put as such...
not a pain, however its by logic.
its almost as bad as asus' 2.4ghz flip to 5Ghz settings, ive never knew why the separation drop down, when a simple tab, indicating which Signal user is changing.
though their professional settings is much better than prosumers ive seen [ my own vview only ]
