it has always been my wish-list to be more monetary savvy and diversify.

currently, i hold cash around 100k
while monthly stock purchase of STI ETF of $1000 as retirement plan.
I also purchased $500 monthly worth of a company under bluechip as part of the staff benefits.

I dont have any loan, only HDB loan.

I'm thinking of growing my money rather than parking under stand chart supersalary plan.

It's not a lot as i came from ground zero.
I wish to grow if i could.

could you guys please teach me some tricks

Check out citibank maxigain account.
Try to invest more in US or world etf than SG etf.
You have CPF totally in SGD already for that.
Check out shiny things' thread in money mind.

Read shiny things thread. Take a look at your entire portfolio and choose a percentage to put into equity. The part of your networth that you don't need for 20 years, should be in equities.

Hello Perisher and revhappy,

i probably will park some of my money in the maxigain.

which are the world etf that i could buy or do dollar cost averaging?
Something simple i hoped.

You're doing fine. You can broaden your horizons a little: start buying A35 for your bond component, and IWDA for your international-stocks component, because your portfolio's a bit heavily weighted toward Singapore right now.

If you can sell your holdings of that "blue chip" stock, that's a good idea; as mentioned above, you don't want to have a big holding of your company's stock.

citing from shiny, he mentioned about IWDA.
i did some google about IWDA, its listed in London and classified as World UCITS ETF.

How should i go about in investing it.

as for IWDA, since you have told me to look into it.
a few questions that i may have
- can i buy this locally?
- which are the brokers?
- able to do DCA?

1) No, it’s listed on the London stock exchange.
2) Use Standard Chartered if you’re small, or Interactive Brokers if you’re large.
3) You can dollar-cost-average anything.

Can anyone please teach me :D

- maxigain, 100k+
- STI ETF, 30k+
- company share, 20K+

i know holding cash is king, but is there anything else that i can grow and settle for earlier retirement?

maybe some Reits ETF via posb?

please give your views :D

to be frank, i'm not savvy with all these, hence i never really check or monitor..

but i just take it as an ang bao.

Company:
Gross dividend per share (cents) Dividend yield (%)
FY2018 15.00 4.4
FY2017 15.00 4.6
FY2016 15.00 4.8

STI ETF
dividend is twice a year, so also not bad. few hours each time

Maxigain, is good, 1-2k per year.
i take the money as a free holiday annually

After 2 years, cash is even more than before. If you absolutely must hold 100k+ in cash to sleep well at night, maybe keep a portion liquid and the balance in higher interest short term FD.

Also diversify beyond STI ETF as suggested.

If your company shares have appreciated and are not under lock down, consider selling some to fund your diversification. Think about worst case scenario: Company does poorly, stock price drop and you kena retrenched.

maybe its me, i have this silly thought.

wait for the market to crash and with the spare cash, invest them into STI ETF.
what goes down, will eventually goes up. :s13:

yeah, i need to diversify more.

I wish to get something similar to STI etf,
something no brainer.
auto deduct monthly via POSB.

i'm actually looking at the nikko S-reits etf, something regional.
or back to ABF Singapore Bond, which i used to buy monthly but now stopped

some proposals please :o

Have you maxed out your CPF SA? That's 4% compounded compared to maxigain.

Global equities? You seem over invested in SG.
If you're looking for no brainer global equities and find investing through SCB and IBKR too complicated, the appearance of Robos have opened up the global equity market somewhat. So long as you are okay with their fees of roughly 1%. Most robos can also automate regular investments for you.

Yeah should consider overseas equities.

Don't overweight to SG market only.

what is your objective in your investment. growing money can mean alot.

do you want quick access to the money invested?
are you willing to hold for how long?

It is really a silly though to wait for market crash - I am serious, it is never a good idea to time the market, especially for non savvy investors.

When you are younger, you should take more risk, cash is king is only applied to people nearing their retirement age, not sure why you keep so much cash unless you are 50s now.

As recommended by others in year 2017, IWDA is the right ETF you should be buying, take a look at its price in year 2017 and its price now, you will know how much you are losing for not investing in it earlier.

Maxigain is good, at least no capital loss. But i heard a lot of ppl jumping off the ship.

Wat do u mean by a few hours for your sti etf? U need to know how much u had paid vs the current mkt value to know whether u r earning or making a loss on your etf and shares.

If u going to invest blindly, u will need a lot of luck. Otherwise u may be losing money unknowingly.
