Amazon.com vs Amazon.sg

Hi all, I noticed there is difference in the return windows on Amazon SG and Amazon. Amazon SG return window is 15 days while Amazon is 30 days. That makes think if i were to purchase big ticket items such GPU, it would be safer to purchase on Amazon because the longer return window.

I understand it is impossible to claim warranty locally in SG for GPU purchased from overseas via amazon SG or amazon US. I take it as Amazon SG "warranty" is 15 days while Amazon is 30 days.

In the event that the GPU I received is found out to be defective all I have to do is file a return with Amazon for them to pick it up from my address in SG. Amazon bears the shipping cost of returning the defective item from SG to US and
also the cost of shipping of replacement from US to SG.

Besides that I also noticed that the price in Amazon is usually better than Amazon SG even after currency conversion.

I just want to make sure that my understanding is correct, pls feel free to correct me if I am wrong and also let me know if is there anything I need to take note of when buying from Amazon. Thanks.

Returns policy and product warranty are 2 different things. Returns policy is the policy given by amazon that u can return the product as it is if for whatever reason such as change of mind, product not working, request for refund, not satisfied with product etc. It's akin to free-look period where u can change ur mind if u decide the product is not suitable for u.

Product warranty on the other hand is given by the manufacturer so after the 30 days, if u have any issues with ur product u need to contact the respective manufacturer for their warranty policy and how to RMA the items. Warranty vary by region from where u buy from so if u buy from US u have to RMA to their US distributor. Normally u can just email them and ask them about how to RMA ur product and they will direct u to the correct avenue

Do note that prices in amazon US may seem cheaper than in sg because they do not include GST... if u import such items it may be subject to GST before customs will release it so u have to take that into consideration.

Amazon return policy to me is very easy and straight forward. Request a return, approved, print out the return form, don't even need to write anything everything swee swee printed out for you. Paste on the box or whatever you want to return, and bring it to any ninja drop off point. Then just wait for money to credit back into your account.

But lazy people might hate the part of bringing the item to a drop off point.

generally Amazon US is cheaper but not always. So just compare cos US shipping could be higher, affecting the final price. Not exactly true local distro won't rma. u can email manufacturer and if they ask u rma with local distro, the local distro just has to do it. Happen to me when i bought a silverstone product from Amazon recently.

Hi all, thank very much for your valuable inputs. Yes I understand what kaputzzz meant by return policy is free look period and shouldn't be confused with warranty.

Though I maybe able to ship the product back to US for warranty claim after 30 days but that may not be guaranteed as some brands only pick up the from a local address in US, they don't entertain direct shipping to their RMA centres from oversea, that's what I have read so far. That's why I treat the 30 days return policy as "Warranty".

Too bad EVGA has quit GPU as I read they did allow shipping to their Taiwan RMA centre from overseas. Does anyone know is there other GPU brand who is RMA friendly EVGA? I am very tempted to buy XFX RX 6700 XT on
Amazon but I am not sure how easy is their RMA.

Lastly, I saw some RX 6700 XT listed on Lazada and Shopee selling at $1k plus, is this serious? How come the price is still so high? How are they going to be able to sell it when newer generations of GPU are out in the market selling at much lower price?

For me, I'd willingly lose the $5-8 in return shipping costs for pick-up instead of Ninja drop-off.

I've had too many issues with them;
- Ninjavan locker full
- Ninjavan locker doesn't recognise tracking number
- Ninjavan locker doesn't exist per THEIR OWN website listing
- Ninjavan drop-off at 7/11 stores only accepts retail shipment tracking numbers, no return/RMA tracking numbers accepted

And even on the occasions the locker accepted my return parcel, I've had 2 instances where I had to follow-up with Amazon because no Ninjavan courier went to pick it up from the locker after a week (that's why their lockers perpetually full forever). Otherwise, you'll never get your refund. Bloody waste of time.

At least for return pick-up, I can just leave it outside my home. No pick up? Just report to Amazon. If after the lapse time if still no pick up, I get a refund. No need to check with the stupid Ninja website.

If you buy from Amazon, i.e. direct from Amazon, and not local stores selling on Amazon, you should always take it as no warranty. Not that there is "no warranty", but it can be tricky and also expensive to RMA due to the size and weight of mid to high end GPUs. If it is like a stick of NVME SSD, it is very cheap to ship it to the US for RMA.

Thanks for the heads up. I don't mind paying for the shipping back to US for RMA it if it comes that and most importantly if the manufacturer allows it. Hopefully is not too costly.
