Anyone managed to solve this issue? Amazon Fire TV is a lovely device and nice interface. But irritating that despite being a singapore prime user, I can only access singapore content on laptop/ipad/iphone and not on my TV !!!

I have used Amazon support chat, but they were not able to help me and I still get the Amazon error code 5505.

A year later, same issue. Should have checked here before buying. But it’s not a problem that anyone would anticipate, I think. It’s one thing to ignore a small market like Singapore, but deliberately disable the device is pretty hostile. It’s a real negative for me, I don’t use the delivery a lot, so I’ll be off to Netflix then...

THought I'd update my story as well: I've been using FireTV for almost a year - works excellent otherwise. Netflix, YouTube etc. (I have a non-smart TV).

I thought I'd try Amazon Prime Video (Singapore). Even though you have an Amazon Singapore account (Country Settings = Singapore), it still doesn't play on the FireTV Stick (not 4K). I followed the instructions here, but doesn't work.

Hi flitbee, think Fire TV Stick does not support Prime Video (Singapore) accounts.

If your Amazon Prime is a US-paid account; then the Fire TV stick (both 4K and HD versions) will work in Singapore.

Worminger2, I think the difference in treatment of US and SG Prime Accounts is because of the price paid.

In the US, we are paying USD$5.99 or SGD$8.50 per month.

But in Singapore the Prime accounts are only SGD$2.99 per month.

Yep, SG doesn't work for me. I believe if the Country setting on my Amazon account is US then it may work for Amazon Prime (US content).

I have the latest gen Fire Stick.. also cant play Prime video (will get location error).

But its good for watching Disney Plus or Viki (korean dramas) on TV when paired with US VPN.

Is your Prime account a US or SG Prime account?

I maintained my US Prime account after re-location and my Fire Sticks both the 4K and Standard versions could always log on and get Prime video contents.

Only difference is that if I want to watch US content - free movies, non-Prime Original series and a few Prime Original series, I would need an US VPN.

Without the VPN, I could only get a few standard Prime Originals like Grand Tour, The Boys, Hana, Jack Ryan etc.

But to watch the newer Prime Originals like Borat and even older third-party series like Dr. House, I would need the US VPN.
