Don't choose Kindle if you are planning to read only PDF documents.
Although PDFs is accepted format in Kindle, most of the documents available now are of fixed width PDFs (around 8"x by 5"x dimentions).
Now viewing PDFs of such dimentions is a real pain in Kindle, as the font really shrinks, and until you zoom in, you cannot read it.

Also PDFs loading cause serious performance issue in Kindle, sometimes they hung up & take a long time to respond.

Kindles are designed for handling low quality, small-sized files, as they don't boast of a great hardware configuration (which is not required in the first place, for any eBook reader.)

Best Devices for PDFs

Buy any tablet which is of 8" or more in dimention. They will easily display the PDF better than your PC/ laptop and the page will perfectly fit the screen. Content for fitting such dimentions/screens are easy to find, as you can use the same ones that have been released earlier for PC/ laptops.

Sorry if OOT, but does anyone have experience with faulty charging ports on the Kindle Fire? I have a 1st gen Kindle Fire and 5th gen Kindle Fire 7, both are unable to charge. Have tried replacing the USB cables but nothing works. Google seems to indicate this is a common issue. Is there any way to fix this or are my kindles gone for good?

Switch to another power source. Maybe it's not that the usb cables are not working. Maybe it's that usb source is not providing power?

Hi there,

I am thinking of buying Kindle Paperwhite, the latest 300ppi version with backlight.

Will Qoo10 be a good place to buy?
Can Paperwhite be used to surf the web like facebook or linkedin? I heard the browser is experimental but do review.
My plan is to replace Kindle paperwhite as the preferred web browser on my bed as I am always facing eye strain.

That's not a good plan as the Kindle is not meant nor is it designed to be remotely functional as a web browser. The eink screen is best in class for long form reading, but does not have the refresh speed needed in a web browser.

How about boox from qoo10. Will it least likely strain my eye

The boox also uses eink tech. Its disadvantages are exactly the same as the kindle for your purposes.

My recommendation is to get the Kindle as a long-form reader in bed. For web surfing and facebook, don't do it in bed; do it on a desktop.

Hi there,

I have read online that:
You can download Calibre on your PC to convert any type of file to mobi and then transfer it to your Kindle. You can use online converters as well.

Can anyone verify?
