AMD cpu upgrade to Win11 will affect performance?!!!

Those who installed Windows 11 please give feedback to Microsoft so that they can quickly fix these issues.

I want to install Win 11 1 year from now so I want all these issues fixed by then

It doesn't help if MS is not proactively fixing the issues identified. There is a Explorer memory leak issue that some claimed that was reported during the beta phase, but wasn't fixed when they released it. If it is a remote issue, i.e. affecting some people, I think it is fair to say that it could have been missed. But for a common problem that affects most if not everyone, it is unlikely to be missed. Unless the testers are all inexperienced people. Then MS will need to have their own QC checks.

i just done a test on explorer memory leak, maximum windows 11 allow me to open was 79 explorer taking up to 915MB (1GB RAM)

when i try to open the 80th explorer the system will freeze momentary and close up all 79 explorer and release all the memory back to 68MB.



i tested this for 5 times.

So my next test was open 79 explorer and try to closed all, and the memory show in task manager was 772.7MB.



my test show windows 11 limit/max at 1GB for explorer memory in the system with max 79 explorer open at the same time.

it seems windows 11 not allow me to open more than 79 explorer in the windows since it will auto close all explorer and release the memory by itself.

i think i have partial VBS already on in win10.

only the memory isolation is not on because it affects older programs

VBS cost me around 3% especially in memory sensitive loads

dont think decrease can be fix in win11

Just like other Windows releases best to wait a while before upgrading.
The VBS issue may not be fixable so best to stick on Win 10 like what the video recommended.

Yes you are very correct

for this explorer.exe service in task manager it have the "restart" option unlike other services only have "end task".

Once select the "restart" it will release it's memory if it happen to ransom the RAM.

I do try my i5-7600k with 16gb ram on windows 10, max explorer I can open was **55 and ram max at **320mb

Nowadays most pc have 8gb ram (windows 11 min 4GB Ram required) I do not think someone with lesser RAM will open more than 5 explorer usage approx **70mb memory.

As such I think this explorer issue might be exaggerated. Maybe other can share his view how crucial would be issue for a normal pc user.

The obtained results show that the patch has worked like a charm and the L3 performance of Ryzen CPUs after this update is back up to where they should be. Hence, all Windows 11 insiders who are using a Ryzen-based PC should probably upgrade to this build.

thank you Xonix. though I don't face any issues at all, maybe aint a gamer lol.. but after update.. I find the system reponse so much faster.. compiling, transfering and even using adobe suite.. everything is snappier..

Can concur with this. I have it enabled on some of my folk's PCs though, since to me security is more important. Today's threat landscape is more complex, and some people are by nature less mindful about risks. It also disables older drivers, so I have an ancient (by today's standards) Razer Mouse Pro that won't load if memory isolation is on.

Have seen it enabled by default in some corporate deployments.

Looks like hypervisor/virtualisation performance optimisations might be the next thing Intel/AMD will have to focus on going forward. This will be something they could be very unwilling to embark on, since it means fewer physical CPUs sold if the performance penalty for running PVE/ESXi/etc becomes negligible in order to mitigate the impact of virtualisation. It could be trickled down tech from their Xeon processor range. I am guessing they will probably collaborate with MS to create a subset of special virtualisation features and optimise for that in the next few years, just to sell more hardware and not cannibalise their server chip sales.

Assuming you're referring to the Intel processor, or the patched AMD build here... And of course, a more recent build in the officially supported list (ie, Intel 8th generation onwards)

I think that is true for most users, rather than some. Even casual gamers won't really feel much of a performance decrease in real-world usage. Benchmarkers might complain, but there are a subset of hobbyists who just want numbers and not actually use their computers, so...

Processors have come a long way, and it's really not surprising to see Intel 4th-6th gen machines still running snappily today, as long as they have lots of RAM and are on SSDs. There could be a very real reason why Microsoft did stipulate modern processors, in order to provide for the best case experience even after performance penalties. Older processors will just feel the penalty more.
