AMD skipping 20nm so means they are going below 20nm for their future product launches right?

Tsmc stuck at 20. Samsung already claim good yields on 10 iirc. Samsung buy AMD will solve the die shrink .

Apple iPhone go back samsung for chip cos Tsmc can't go below 20

Intel also stuck at 14. That's y they kan cheong AMD bought by samsung

Ahh... now we are talking. Skip 20 and go smaller. Next iteration of launches will become very very interesting.

On July 24, 2006, AMD acquired ATI for $5.6 billion. Today, AMD market capitalisation is less than $2.0 billion. This is really value destruction. ATI was a great company. It gave us the legendary 9700 Pro. ATI could have done better without AMD.

At the rate they are going, its not something unexpected. They are caught up in a vicious cycle of not making money, so spending less money on R&D, coming up with less competitive products, not making money, and the cycle goes on.

I do hope they survive these trying times.

don't let them die, if not intel cpu price skyrocket guaranteed.

Then that will fulfill the reason for the decline of PC. Over priced computers will eventually drive people to the much cheaper tablets. Sure they cannot perform some stuff as well as a computer, but basic stuff like surfing net, watching movie, and listening to music is not gonna be a problem.

From my opinion, I feel ARM chips are the ones keeping Intel in check, rather than AMD. AMD sets a base line for Intel to try to keep up, but with the performance delta between the 2, they are easily keeping up with AMD currently.

Will Intel invest in AMD stocks to keep it alive just like how Microsoft loaned $$ to Apple in the late 1990s? :s13:

maybe cos the company has potential. but the danger is making your competitor really strong. i wonder if Microsoft ever regretted. although im sure they've reaped massive gains from their investment.

Ugh, Intel wins by both IPC and market manipulation. >_<'

Why doesn't anyone pick up the discovery? I'm pretty sure that will do a f***ton better than the restricted Starter-powered Atoms and some of the too bloody expensive i3/5/7us...

Intel's Android Atoms aren't bad tho, but I don't see why AMD couldn't...
