Hi guys, my biostar motherboard died need recommendations for a new board. Don't really remember the specs(brought my friend's old pc), but it's running a 6-core processor, don't know what type of board it fits. on a low budget of 150max. Thx all

u didnt even tell us which chip... how r we gonna recommend u properly?

Hmm, what's the best way to check? Asked my friend he told me, he bought 1 of the 2 6core processors at that time..

The chip model usually printed on the chip itself. Since he is just going to change mobo might as well take it out to confirm.

Am3 boards n the fx boards are different?

AMD 6 core CPU, 2 possibilities

1. AM3 = Thuban
2. AM3+ = Zambezi or Vishera

So just get a AM3+ mobo, backward compatible with AM3 (choose one with 8 power phase esp if o'cing) and you should be safe. To be 100% safe, bring your CPU along and ask the shop to test/install for you, installation fees may be applicable.

Just as what macClipper bro says just get a AM3+ Mb. Look around for the gigabyte 970A-D3 (rev 1.4). Should be able to get ~150 sgd (need to bargain). Has UEFI, has vrm heatsinks, will run whatever 6 core FX or Phenom II you have. needs a graphics card

Do not get the MSI at the price range u are looking at. ASUS is unfortunately quite above.
