Intel ah intel. Why innovate when u can chut pattern to fk amd?

No thunderbolt for amd.
No high ends models for amd
Bride oems with free money to not use amd lol:s8:

For laptop, always Intel as there is no need for diy overclock work.
Especially if you are using it for business or serious work.

i dont see what intel can do that AMD cant, apart from the intel quicksync video....but AMD does have more horse power in production workload as shown in benchmark.

so can u provide me a counter argument that what you said is truth? im curious to know and also im not working for AMD.

Most business don't allow overclocking. A lot of windows settings are locked/blocked. Doesn't matter it's intel or amd.

Unless using own devices for work.

Will be moving this from notebook clinic to hardware clinic where this is more applicable :)

I would would choose amd over intel laptop because amd is 7nm while intel 108750h still 14nm process. Hence intel is more power hungry and shorter battery life while amd is definitely more power efficient compared to intel.

I don't think there is anything wrong with AMD sticking to PCI-E 3.0. The fastest mobile GPU now is slower than a desktop version of the RTX 3070, which is not going to saturate PCI-E 3.0. In addition, I don't think laptops are suited for PCI-E 4.0 SSD as well because they run very hot without proper cooling.

Based on my experience with AMD and Intel laptops of late, I don't think there is anything significantly lacking from AMD. If any deficiencies, it is mostly due to AMD processors being used in lower end laptop models which ends up with poor components such as battery, monitors, etc. In fact, I will go to say that AMD really pushed the boundaries by releasing 8 core mobile CPUs while Intel is still happy to milk their customers with 4 cores. I am still using a Ice Lake U based laptop, so not bashing Intel without reason.

AMD only design chip, they no longer has chip manufacturing facility.

If you do a battery benchmark on both AMD and Intel with same notebook maker and same model series, you will know the different.

Even at 7nm, AMD always has a bigger blower.
By the way, the new Intel processor is 10nm. The important is the power management design and some important feature that AMD does not have due to patent is with Intel.

More cores is always a good new in hardware technology. But OS is not catching up fast enough. Unless you are running in Linux environment.

I feel 8 cores in a laptop is a good number for people who need that much processing power. This was historically only possible on either very high end laptops or on desktops. So when Renoir was announced with 8 cores, it drew that much attention. As for software, I do agree that it is still catching up, but 8 cores is becoming a norm because afterall the market leader, Intel, has finally released 8 and 10 core processors. So there is incentive for software makers to optimize for higher core counts. Beyond 8, I think unless one runs specfic software that can utilize the cores, otherwise they are mostly at idle.

I think there are little comparisons between a 4 core Intel vs AMD reviews. 4 core AMD processors are usually found on lower end system, so it is hard to compare. My point is that while we can say that AMD tend to burn more power when we compare AMD @ 7nm and Intel @ 10nm, the former have more cores, which I feel already an impressive feat. GPU wise, Vega and Xe kind of trade blows depending on games, so I won't say that GPUs are someone tied in terms of performance. I would be interested to see the 8 cores Tiger Lake H vs AMD's Cezanne H in independent reviews both from a processing standpoint and also a power standpoint.

Exactly! PCIe 4.0 for desktop can perhaps justify because of flagship level GPU's like RX 6900 XT and RTX 3090, but mobile GPU's are far, far weaker than their desktop counterparts, does not saturate PCIe 3.0 bandwidth, let alone PCIe 4.0.
