Don’t know and I don’t wanna to fiddle with BIOS because this is my Work laptop

Dont have to fiddle with bios, can just swap in lenovo vantage.

Anyways, anyone is observing coil whine noise from their thinkpads?

is the yoga slim 7 still the best ultrabook out there? or already outdated? Thanks!

I have been using it for 2 months, with 4700u CPU, 16gb ram and 1tb nvme ssd. Very powerful and the fan don't kick up unless i run very processor intensive tasks.

What is impressive is that due to the twin fan system, the cooling is quite efficient compared to other ultrabooks... resulting in lesser cpu throttling. The battery life is also very long, with 60.7 whr. I can use it for 8-9 hours per day and still have about 15-20% battery life left.

The keyboard is surprisingly good too. Of course it is not thinkpad keyboard level butt he scissors switch and the key pad design gives a very god typing feel... definitely not mushy typing.

I think depends also. Like the higher end ThinkBooks are probably of better quality than ThinkPad E series. On the other hand, the higher end IdeaPad/yoga series like the S540 and 7/9 series have higher built quality than ThinkBooks and dare I say many ThinkPads.

yeap, that's why can't just give blanket statement like thinkpad > thinkbook.

tbh, some thinkbooks are superior than some thinkpads. likewise some ideapads (the premium models) are superior to thinkpads as well. Lenovo now makes a lot of low end thinkpads (and this segment has only gotten better too)

before i buy any laptop, i normally would recommend going to:

https://psref.lenovo.com/ - to check the actual specs, what is upgradable, what is not, the display type (ips vs tn or 4k vs fhd vs hd or color gamut and etc), how many ports etc

https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/ - to get the hardware maintenance manual and see the internals of the laptop, what is upgradable, what can be taken out, whether it has twin fan cooling or single fan cooling, one heat pipe or 2 heat pipes.

Mine is 14 May right now but hope it will be brought forward. I guess it is not about the parts availability but rather they collate demand and ship in batches so they can reduce logistics expenses.

I ordered my t14s on 4 Jan. At that point delivery was scheduled 3 June. After a few days, the date was empty. Now it says 4 May. I think they are super conservative. I hope it will come in Feb or latest Mar.

Not likely delaying for 4 months just to consolidate consolidate orders, they don't sell only a few laptops in Singapore a month.
It is really due to parts shortage.
I receive this email from them today:

Hi Customer,

Your order is expected to ship from our factory in May due to parts shortage. We are trying our best to expedite the order and will keep you updated.

Sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused.xxxxxxxxx

Thinking of going for the T14 gen 1 AMD. But not sure if T14s is a better deal?

Difference between the 2 are about 200g. Not so concern about the weight since I'm used to carrying my 1.5kg Acer around.
Soldered ram is not an issue for me either.

Read that T14 can only accept single sided NVMe while T14s can take single and double sided. is that true?

Are there any other differences that will weight towards one or the other?

The other options has amd graphics instead of integrated graphics. Any difference?

Also, I think the anti glare model (250 nits) is dimmer than glass version (350/380 nits).

I did not expect that kind of a delay, but it's probably on AMD's end then. At least they were honest. If I were you, I would cancel and order something else - either wait for Zen 3 and enjoy the improvements, or buy off a T14s from someone else.
