Can try the above.. it's mechevo model and saw some post that they manage to change to English windows.

For 800 sgd + 8% gst.. it's quite unbeatable given the 7840hs + 14 QHD display.

Get minimum 24GB ram and H /HS class processor instead of the U ones.

I did some reaserch and seems like Armageddon is selling it in SG too? Are they owned by Armageddon? I know that are not a top gaming brand but that makes it better than a random China brand.

Also seems that they use TongFang chassis.

I'm waiting for 11.11 to see if there are any deals.

Also I read that for APUs, 32gb ram helps with performance(also faster ram). Wondering how much compared to 16gb. Is that why people care is ram is soldered on?

This year to early next year not that many new and good CPUs i.e. mostly refreshed versions.

8 to 16 cores is a big jump. Intel is also using TSMC smaller nm nodes.

Any idea when will Lenovo bring in Lenovo yoga air 14s (naming in China) or Yoga Slim 7 Gen 8 14APU8 (naming in west)?

I just ordered 32 GB x 2 DDR4 Crucial RAM 3200 MHz for about $156 from Amazon SG. I guess this is the cheapest I can do to upgrade my laptop. Hope they work.

No matter how much faster the 16core will be, there is a thermal envelope limitation and depending on how the manufacturer implement, there could be a power limitation envelope.

Indeed, heat is a big issue for laptops. The Wi-Fi module in my laptop got damaged recently as I run rendering for several hours a day.

I am now considering if a desktop makes more sense considering the amount of power draw and heat generation. Furthermore, laptop CPUs and GPUs tend to be limited by manufacturers.
