Not sure why the ram is chosen to display beside TR. TR is quad channel, unless I have been in the mountain for too long, 2 pieces of ram is only dual channel

Doesnt really matter much these days. Even if you buy dual channel rams, and you buy 2 sets of the same thing, it will still be quad channel.

Not unless it is of 2 different speed, and different timing. Then only your bios inside cannot set xmp/axmp.

So far i have been running 4 sets of dual channel memory rams. All of them are the same timing and same frequency. Boot into bios and detected as quad channel with xmp enabled.

Also easier to sell in future. Some may not like to buy all 4 dimms instead. You cant sell partial as if there is a need to claim warranty, you need to send all 4 back together.

Sorry. Thats not quite what I wanted to put across. I probably should just say the picture is trying to suggest running TR with 2 sticks of ram is enough

IMHO, the ram is use as a visual sizes comparison to highlight the size of the packing box of the processor, not about how many stick of ram module to run with the processor.

You are right. ThreadRipper's packaging is unexpectedly big. That picture was to see the difference. :D
