With AMD AM4 platform coming in next year supporting Zen, desktop Excavator and etc, here's a lookback at the battle between David and Goliath of the CPU world, before AMD made a very bad choice and ride on a Bulldozer he created. AMD was caught dozing in it by Intel and beaten to a pulp. AMD upgraded his rides few times more, still he cant beat the sleeping bug and Intel continued his bashings. Now the dying AMD thought of all his misteps and decided to train under Zen Master Lisa Su. He is gaining enlightenments over the years. Look out for AMD in 2016.

Time to look forward. AMD is finished and had a good run.

Unless Zen can change things, I doubt AMD will have any future anymore.

Farewell AMD. We will remember you for the good old time. :(

My Grandfather smoked his whole life. I was about 10 years old when my mother said to him, 'If you ever want to see your grandchildren graduate, you have to stop immediately.'. Tears welled up in his eyes when he realized what exactly was at stake. He gave it up immediately. Three years later he died of lung cancer. It was really sad and destroyed me. My mother said to me- 'Don't ever smoke. Please don't put your family through what your Grandfather put us through." I agreed. At 20, I have never touched a cigarette. I must say, I feel a very slight sense of regret for never having done it, because your post gave me cancer anyway.

Looking out for AMD in 2016. But the label they wear over their heads for CPU still remains the same - Budget. Trying to match Intel chips' performance at a lower price point. Zen will be the same. The highest-tier chip from AMD Zen will show how to match the Intel i7-5960X performance at a lower price point, rather than try to out-perform the Intel i7-6950X.

the price point is hardly any lower than intel. maybe elsewhere but not here.

i wouldn't rule out am4 so quickly though, considering we haven't even had any benchmarks and prices yet. would be interested to see if amd wins this time or if it bulldozes to another AMFlop
