The way Intel is screwing up and AMD is screwing us with their APU means I might break my trend and buy a CPU without graphics.

My living room ITX just died and I can't be arsed to troubleshoot it anyway. So no more ITX I guess.

For 8 Cores > 10 Cores, my guess is that gaming is not optimised to make full use of the mult-cores.

Really hoped that AMD IPC will improved over Intel. At moment of time, I will take the results with a pinch of salt till we see the real deal....

This looks a bit weird. They are testing at 4k on a 2080. The GPU is a bottleneck. RAM is also different.

AMD has mentioned that there will be around 15-20% performance increase over Zen2.

If this is really true, then we can scale up the performance of Zen2 by 15-20% and we should be around there. For clockspeeds, there isn't much info but from leaks, it seems to be similar to current Zen 2. So, its unlikely that we will see a 5GHz Zen3 on all cores.

However, this will nicely close up the gap between Intel and AMD in terms of gaming. The main benefit of Intel CPUs are their ability to run over 5GHz on all cores. So, a 4.4GHz Zen3 should easily perform faster than 5GHz Intel....Looks good!!

But hor...... thats last gen Intel. Tiger lake promise better IPC etc.... so we shall see.

tiger lake is intel 10nm. probably wont come out on desktop till like 2022. by then amd should be on zen 4 5nm.

I think the leak also mentioned testing being done at 1080p. The gap is even wider at 1080p in favour of the supposed R7 5800X.

Some rumors out there where IPC gain is in the ballpark of up to 15 to 20%. If AMD is able to catch up in terms of clock speed, then we should see a higher performance gain over Zen 2. Now waiting for review and to see if Rocket Lake can save Intel this or next year.

Weird that at 4k, there is so much difference given how GPU bound any system would be at that resolution. Better to wait for the proper benches and reviews because CPU Clock Speed, RAM Frequency & Timings and GPU Clock Speed are all unknown with the exception that the 5800X was running 32GB while the 10900k was runing 16GB.

Also, there is alot of rumour of 150W TDP for the higher end AMD CPU's out of the box. While some have argued the 150W TDP are only for ES Samples.

But if that is really what the Zen3 is, RIP Intel.

Yeah, I saw the rumor on the 150W TDP. If AMD sticks close to the TDP stated, I think they are still better off than Intel where the PL2 power requirement for their 10900K is 250W. I don’t believe Rocket Lake will change the power requirement since it is still on 14nm.

Yeah but that was apparently if AMD could run 5Ghz on the cores. I believe this could step back to keep it under TDP but yeah surely won't hit as high on Intel with their 10900K. I am already peaking 210W at 5.2Ghz all core so 10900k should definitely be around there with 2 extra cores and 4 threads.

I think the real deal would be TigerLake though it is only on laptop SKU's currently. Even Rocket Lake is just Intel buying time. Everyone knows it's the same 5hit so long as they stay on 14nm+++++++++++++++++++++++!

AMD changed the naming. Now all Desktop and mobile will be 5000, since it's confusing right now how the 4000 laptop and Pro chips are actually 3000 series.

ashes of the singularity has a public result list for the benchmarks so people use it to leak.

I think mostly confirmed that the IPC gain is about 15%, so balance is depends on the clock speed that AMD can reach in the retail version.
Another 5% gain in clock then would be very good for gaming already.
