Android Programming: Implementing Tesseract OCR

Hello guys, wanting to try to implement tesseract library to my project but having many roadblocks.

Anyone have any experience in this topic?
such as
Training of data, reading new fonts.
improving accuracy.
and issit possible to reduce size of the tesseract library, so to keep the .apk file as small as possible.

Tried, but didn't try long enough OCR huh Why not have your service running in the cloud and make use of the power in the cloud to really speed up your OCR. Your mobile will just be a camera client, send up your image into the cloud for processing and then down come the output.

Shouldn't be an issue with 3G/4G/WiFi. Then your problem wouldn't be an issue.

If not, have your corpus stored in the cloud and have your engine download during first use, that would make your APK small too. But I would prefer the cloud approach
