Hi all,

Am looking into building a HTPC for my living room. I know how to diy build a desktop but have never tried on a HTPC or laptop before..... Is it very different?

The key tasks of this HTPC is mainly to store all my movies. Able to torrent and using plex/xbmc, linked to my tv via HDMI. It will be connected via Ethernet as well.

Criteria is of course silent, boot fast and not hot. As it will be store in the enclose tv console.
Size allowable about 200 by 400 by 400.
Setting the budget to let say......700?
Thanks in advance for the help as i am really outdated in the current IT status.

(Anyone good in openelec can advice whether it can still torrent?)
(tempted to just get the zbox or pre builds like asus vivo etc)

Doing my research now on those components you listed.
Also saw that the casing you listed can put in a disc drive.

If you are going to use the Blu-ray drive to watch Blu-ray movies, please note that you will need special playback software or an already out of production Asus Xonar HDAV 1.3 soundcard to be able to playback directly from a Blu-ray disc as the Blu-ray drives in the market do not have the proper decoding software to properly playback Blu-ray movies.

k, that is cheem for me. Meaning the blu ray drive we currently have in the market are not really comprehensive? they are lacking as compare to a true blue ray player? K, will go do my research on this. Thks

Ya, just saw that. So now looking at the other Silverstone casing as well. Since i still have some space to play with, i.e. bigger casing.

You should consider getting Lite-On S900 and Antec ISK110 for chassis at just 3 litres.

Upgrading

Hi all again,

Firstly thks to the gurus that helped me previously.

I have an opportunity to upgrade. I will be passing the above htpc to my wife. Going to build one for myself.
Need recommendations. Going to use rvz02 to complement the above rvz01

Wired thru ethernet.
Can play latest game medium settings. (60inch tv)
Preferbly comes with optic audio, not a must.

Lets set budget about 1000ish.
Thks
