Hi all, I have a antec truepower 550w. I wonder of this psu still can be used for new rigs nowadays?

How is it compared to FSP Aurum 500w?

Any difference in connectors or performance?

There are quite a few Antec True Power:
True Power (CWT)
True Power 2.0 (CWT)
True Power Trio (Seasonic)
True Power New (Seasonic)
True Power Quattro (Enhance)
True Power Classic (Seasonic)
True Power Gold (Delta)

Classic and Gold are high(er) end (and newer) PSUs, which are easily as good FSP Aurum, if not better while having the same Gold efficiency certifications. The slightly older ones by Seasonic and Enhance are still reliably built designs, on par with FSP Aurum, even though they are not as efficient.

The bad news are the old CWT builds, which had cheap and bad Fuhjiyyu caps. If it is an old unit with Fuhjiyyu caps, toss it and get something better.

If this is what you have, a True Power 2:

...and given that it came from the Athlon X2 era, the caps are probably old enough to be a cause for concern. The warranty should be long over. If you are curious, pull the PSU out and then open up to look at the caps. If there are any bloated, or worse, leaking ones (but do not mistake caulk for leaks!), replace the PSU. If you are electronics trained, you can replace the Fuhjyuus yourself...
