Anyway all meds have side effects, just whether u will kena or not. Even panadol also has.

Augmentin - diarrhoea, vomiting

Ciprofloxacin - neurological effects (neuropathy), as TS mentioned

Nitrofurantoin - diarrhoea, vomiting, neurological effects (neuropathy)

Bactrim - diarrhoea, vomiting, skin rashes, kidney/liver Problems

All these may also cause allergy reaction.
So how? Don't take med, drink more water to flush out bacteria and hope for the best?

I will have have alot of rashes after taking bactrim

I know all drugs have side effects but some side effects are worse than others. If we have a choice, we try not to choose those with life threatening side effects unless no choice, it is either this drug or you die.

Some people also develop Steven-Johnson syndrome from reaction to antibiotics. This one burns you inside out and your skin peels away like burnt victims. Patients usually die. But this one is really heng suay especially if you have no known drug allergy before.

I remember many years ago, this young mother developed Steven Johnson disease after developing a reaction to the antibiotic her GP prescribed. Her relative (father?mother?) went to the clinic every day and banged at the clinic door, asking the doctor to return his daughter to him.

Really suay. Her GP must have been traumatised. Doctors are not god. They wouldn't know how your body reacts to certain drugs if you have no known allergy.

doctors don't have your full medical history and human body is such, u ok with x type meds doesn't mean the other person is ok also.

plus sometimes if bodily got reaction, that doesn't exactly mean the medication is at fault but possibly your body's development and reaction to certain bacteria/viruses that's not lab tested into something more severe.

for ur UTI, unless ur immediate reaction back then was to head straight to a urologist spec who can swab the insides of ur kkj to get it lab tested while u suffer, so that the correct antibiotics can be prescribed. If u were to visit a GP, chances are u are only going to get meds based on what he ask u and how much u are willing to admit.

cos the moment u tell the doctor u piak cheekon raw, on top of this antibiotic, he would had also gave u kelantan clinic address liao.

Why do you assume I am a guy? I have an autoimmune disease and taking drugs to suppress my immune system hence I am vulnerable to infections.

While I understand why you're posting here but I think very hard for us to give genuine feedback if we're unable to do a medical checkup on you

I think at best just take our post with a pinch of salt and change another doctor if you don't feel comfortable with his/her prescription

No, I didnt. I happened to come across this lady who suffered very serious neurological effects from the drug. By the way, if you didnt have any side effects the first time, it doesn't mean you won't the second and subsequent times.

In your case, once you have already taken it, it cannot be undone.

Next time, just check the medication side effects before consuming. If you are not comfortable with the side effects, just visit another GP seeking a second opinion and asking for another type of medication.

I took ciprobay before and had very bad side effects. And had since declared it as part of my allergy records.

UTI quite common for char boh, if they never wash clean properly (that's why they always say CCB!), they will get infected, not STD.

but for guys kena UTI, usually is due to STD.

ok need to take care of your personal hygiene , usually female UTI is resulted from yeast infection, need to use female wash to clean regularly.

It's a rare one, don't want to reveal too much here. This disease can be fatal if it attacks vital organs such as lungs, heart and kidneys.

A friend was recently diagnosed with the same disease. Hers was aggressive and she has to go for an intravenous infusion.

The drug costs $10k per infusion (this was the amount quoted to me by a private specialist a few years ago, not sure if the price has increased) and she needs at least 2 for this year because there is no cure and treatment has to be ongoing.

Fortunately, this drug is heavily subsidised at govt hospitals and she pays just a couple of hundreds. So if you are faced with such an expensive disease, your perspective on life changes. You start counting your little blessings each day.
