Antivirus for MacBook?

Hi all, I am interested in getting an Apple MacBook Air and currently using a Windows OS laptop. I have been using Antivirus for several years.

My question is do I need to get an Antivirus running on the Mac?
Can McAfee Internet Security be run on the Mac and can I share AV running from Windows to the Mac?
What are the best AV for Mac?

I really need advise.

You don't need antivirus for Mac. Turn on the firewall can alr. Get rid of your windows mindset when using Mac and you'll realize everything is easier

there are mac versions of antivirus in the market. As there arent as many viruses meant for OSX compared to Windows, a lot of the functionality is meant for spyware or malware.

for starters, you can try using ClamX. It is a free software, downloadable from the app store.

How about running Windows on the Mac? Still need to install Antivirus?

Thanks for the link. But I am still not sure what would ClamXav do. Its like other antivirus providing real time protection, two-ways firewall, etc?

Will it provide sufficient protect?

Also, how can I connect the Mac to my home Wifi? Connect as how Windows used to connect or I need to purchase the Airport?

Home wifi any router will do. As long as wireless a/b/g/n can already. Just connect as usual and enter WEP password if have.

As long as you exercise common sense and and actually read the dialog box that prompts you for your password and for what reason. You'll be safe.

For wireless, just look at your top right hand side of the screen. There's a Wi-Fi icon there.

Now I am still not sure if I should choose the Mac as I am afraid I might not get used to it as I am using Windows several years. Later end up 'screwing' up the OS X...

OMG I'm using Sophos. Didn't realise it was that bad. Better switch to Clam Xav.

I don't mind paying for Virus Barrier but since most ppl feel its not necessary, then I guess no point wasting money.

Not all printers will work with a Mac, do check out the printer to see if it supports OS X.

Which Macbook are u referring to? Macbook Air does not have a dvd drive.

I think so far I have not met a Mac user who uses anti virus, unless they use it along with Windows OS then they will install an anti virus for the Windows OS

Usually OS X will detect the printer and download the necessary drivers via Software Update. Alternatively, you can just go to Canon Singapore's website and download the OS X driver there.

Go to Macworld's website and read the reviews. They put the hardware through various tests and compare the results with the other models.
