Be very happy if your unit commander gives u more time off. No way NSFs are getting bonuses. After all, their allowance comes from the defence budget, which in turn comes from tax and other sources of revenue

Even when you are a full time employee in a company, you are NOT guaranteed a bonus. In fact you may NOT even get your full salary simply because your salary consist of a variable wage component and your boss can easily reduce the VWC based on the excuse that business is no good.

Having said that, do you seriously think a conscript who is paid an allowance (NOT a salary) would get a bonus?

I recall there was a guy in my section who would work as banquet casual labour during the weekends to earn extra cash. That is what you should consider doing if your parents really have financial burdens. That would be more productive than complaining here.

I somehow agree NSF should be given some due recognition.

Don't everyone work for money? If not why not guys who posted here saying NSFs shouldn't be entitled to bonuses quit your job and not work instead.

Guys given their extra 2 years for that pittance, 2 years behind girls and foreigners in terms of work experience and monetary gains. Isn't too much that MINDEF gives some bonuses?

I don't think it's overboard or unreasonable given that the allowance paid are generally less then $1k...
