Hmmm, hope that us pioneers with viewqwest are not penalized. The sticking point for me has been the modem purchase and the high up front cost.

Hmmm. I have similar questions too. Maybe in order:

1)The first bill (+activation + installation) is paid on installation? or together with the 2nd bill?

2)As the guy above asked, what features does the iptv has?
(nvm, googling the above now)

3)OneVoice

a)I read the previous thread that there's no number porting services at the moment. If there is in the future:

-can we do it switch midway?
-will there be a charge?

b)It is an IP phone right? Is the IP phone supplied or we need to buy our own?

last question: what's the lead time currently?
i'm sold on viewqwest le, no need to wait for the roadshow :s22:

It is basically just a Western Digital Live TV box. You can just google for more info.

Hmm. actually i just googled, still don't get it. It's basically just surfing the net isn't it?

There's no free channel access or anything? Youtube and flickr? Things like netflix still need to pay subscription seperately? So what's the difference between regular internet then?

-i do have a similar gadget, the asus oplay HD2 (still stuck in the box). So what's the point of having an IPTV subscription? blurr :s11:

It functions like the 'Smart' part of a 'Smart TV' so this device + a regular TV = Smart TV.

With this you don't need a PC to stream Youtube, Netflix, Hulu etc. or access social networking sites like Facebook.

In case you didnt know, this package does not come with the Freedom VPN service. You still have to add on that VAS at 10.7 bucks monthly to enjoy watching any US-restricted content on the free Western Digital Live IPTV device.

From cost viewpoint, it's basically a promo for the "regular" 100mbps plan that gives free WD device and home phone line. Rental cost is already factored in so when removed, it's the same price as the said 100mbps plan(5 cent less, TBH :s13:)

Anyone know what the max number of data sessions supported by the Zhone in router mode?

It seems that I need to lower the number of connection in uTorrent to less than 100 for surfing the web to be responsive. My previous Buffalo n-router can support thousand of connections in comparison.

Viewqwest, is there any firmware that can increased the performance or wireless capability of the Zhone integrated router ?

For just $5 more you're getting :
- a phone line with unlimited incoming/outgoing calls
- free rental of a WD media streaming player
- free rental of Zhone ONT/Router

I think it's a good deal when comparing with the regular plan.

Yep yep agreed, I also did the math. Just clarifying what that IPTV portion is, quite ambiguous.

I would like to know this information too, how many sessions can the Zhone router handle in router mode?

The number of sessions (conntracks) available for FTP, TFTP is 32, for all other traffic i.e. HTTP, NAT, .. is 8192.

The WD TV Live does have channels besides Youtube and Facebook. These are on demand channels which do not require the VPN service. We will be updating the website to reflect what the current channels are.

With our new billing system. The first bill will be sent out upon sign up for registration fees and activation fees. The subscription for for monthly will go out once the service has been activated.

The IP TV bundle essentially comes with the WD TV Live box which allows you to stream IP TV channels to your TV.

We don't offer number porting and have no plans to offer this in the future.

The ONT has a analogue voice port on it. You simply connect your phone to the RJ11 port on the ONT.

Lead time is approximately 3 weeks.
