Hmmm... Actually I recommend you to just use any bagpack/slingbag, then buy the waterproof cover from Taobao (its really very cheap) and lub over the bag when its raining. I've been doing this, as I think its more flexible and cheaper than buying a dedicated waterproof camera bag.

dedicated camera bag main selling point is the way the inner compartment has all those partition for your lenses and camera, they may also have outer straps for you to attach your tripod

if you use a generic backpack they dont have such partitions so all the stuff will just pile on each other like a mess

generic sling bags also are 'flatter' while sling bags for cameras have more width to accommodate lenses which unlike books or laptops, arent as flat in shape.

True.. I liked the dedicated padded compartments to put the camera and lenses. Hence I bought the LowePro Fastpack 250. It was good until I purchased the Ronin S recently, which I realised that I can only slot the gimbal in the "general stuff" section, which was designed to put any other than camera.

Hence I went to purchase those portable padded compartments to put my camera, and lenses, then slot this padded compartment and the gimbal into a normal Crumpler sling bag, along with my tripod.

No doubt it doesn't prevent everything from stacking on top of each other, at least I prevented my other stuff from hitting my camera and I get to use the slingbag on normal days vs my LowePro backpack.

padded compartment are often tailor made to the bag's dimension they wont even be compatible of other camera bags cos the partition's velcro strip may not stick correctly due to different length/width

IMO if all you really have is a standard typical backpack and you want to put lenses inside without them banging against each other the best approach to cushion them is probably those cylinder shaped lens pouch but then you'll need 1 pouch per lens

i use a protactic and it can hold all my gear
drone, laptop, 2 cameras, + a couple of lens
but with the bag weighing itself at 2kg, i have trouble handcarrying it onboard budget flights =P

There are many mirrorless systems, which is your system and how many lens and accessories are you bringing?

Consider if you are willing to bring that much... I'm using LowePro Compuday. Top I put my LEE filters, routers, powerbank, 1 bottle of water and can manage to squeeze in my Nintendo Switch, bottom is simply just DSLR + WA lens mounted during travel.

I use the computer section to put my sweater in. Not really much space left for shopping.
