Any reccomendstion?

Hi all, currently I'm using 2 monitor (S2340L and U2414H) and recently 1 of my monitor seems to be giving me problem. It's able to recognise that there's a input but there's nth displayed out, this is when I use a mini display port. But if I use a hdmi cable its able to work just fine. The model is dell u2414h.
I'm not sure if the cable is the problem or one of the port on my gfx is the issue. But anw I'm also looking to buy another gfx to replace it if gfx gives problem.

I am forced to use hdmi on my dell S2340L as there's only 1 port and the other left on my gpu is the mini port for u2414H

My current specs are:

Mobo: msi b85-g43 gaming board
Cpu: i5-4570
Psu: can't rmb but I know it's 650w
Gfx: Asus r9 280x
Ram: avexir 2x4gb

Any advice regarding this? If I change gpu do I need to change mobo or cpu?

most likely it's the monitor port issues. but so u have another system to test the monitor?

I don't have 1.. Other than the port might have issue, could it be the port on the gpu itself?

I'm actually looking to change gpu soon as well, any reco for roughly 400 Budget?
