I am just transiting out to run my small business full time, trying to run it better and expand the number of operating hours. Just wanna to check with other business owners here... How do you train and how often you train your staff ? Do you send them to courses regularly etc? How you all keep track of your effectiveness of your advertising campaign? Do you network around within your industry? Sorry to sound noobie here.. Just someone looking for advice to survive.

No need train staff. Do bare minimum service to get maximum profits. Send for course? lol no.

Network no, keep on cordial terms yes.

Ad campaign got internal metrics to calculate but I where got time to go bother, how I keep track is I spend 2k on ads got $x of sales or not

No need to standardize things until the business becomes bigger. If things are working out now don’t need fix. Go do full time first then see the traction then go standardize ba

Honestly, networking depends on your industry. I don't really see a need for it, and if your industry is small enough, everyone will know everyone eventually. I didn't do any networking at the start, but as time went by, I slowly got to meet people through trade shows and events.

generally if you really really small .. no training lah .. unless is those mandatory one like food handling etc ..

else is ownself train .. make sure got processes in place . depending what industry .. having SOP will give you lesser problem in future ..

then tap into whatever government grant you can get ..

when you scale liao then can consider all the training etc or hire more experienced people ..

network can network a bit .. but unless your business needs to get clients from there .. don't waste time .. spend time build your business .. you should not have a lot of time to do those stuff yet

but a lot depends on industry also lah .. what kind of advertising campaign ? offline ? if offline then usually you can ask your customers where they heard of you ..

if online .. then generally most will be able to track or provide the tracking mechanism ..

just don't spend money on those simi agency for the start .. most are buay gan or just take government grant .. charge you 10k then say can claim 8k .. but the service maybe worth 1k

invoicing can use those free one like zoho

standardize what u need is the process .. from getting the lead to passing it to ops or whatever then service delivery .. you don't wanna end up with .. i tot u suppose to be like that then become like that

I am in the education industry. I normally spend money on FB ads and Google ads. I want to try out Word of Mouth marketing too by getting existing clients to recommend to the rest.

Nice.. I hope to attend more events and trade shows too.

That is so true for the last part. We employed an agency to help with the marketing. But we can't really track how much traffic it brought in for us.

fb and google ads are trackable but u need to set it up correctly

google ads is easier for someone who doesnt know anything but u will probably waste some money if not good at it

fb is more technically cause its not just text.. also images and video.. these creatives hard to get it right for newbies
