I have class 3 license but never drive van before, only drive car before.

Does van have more blindspot or the bigger side mirror can see more so lesser blindspot?

Just wondering if there is any tips for driving van or things to take note when driving van?

Thanks

driving a van was like driving a car ,
even the blind spot is lesser you still have to check your blind spot like you drive a car just for safety.
just that van and lorry you move off in 2nd gear instead of 1st gear.

Van have more blind spots if your van does not have rear side windows. Always use your signal and don't change lane abruptly. When wet, don't speed and don't clutch in when going down slope, always use engine braking. Also keep to the left lane and speed limit is 70kph.

I see many vans and Lorrie's go on lane 1. They are taking their chances or they don't know the speed limit. So just sharing here.if tp spot you on lane 1 in smooth traffic, high chance will get stopped.

For van and lorry, what does move off in 2nd gear mean?

When do you use first gear?

Van will move slowly in first gear like a car?

Van will have more blind spots.

van is front heavy/rear light.

due to gear ratio,vans/trucks usually move off in 2nd gear.

So vans/trucks if you put gear 1 the car will not move?

When you need to move the van very slowly during parking, use gear 1 or gear 2?

Gear 1 ratio very short.
No point using unless heavy load.

gear 2

So when you start to move a van from stationary, how do you do it?

Is it like this:
Step 1) step fully on clutch, change to 1st gear, release handbrake.
Step 2) release clutch, step on accelerator, stay in 1st gear for 1 or 2 seconds.
Step 3) step fully on clutch, change to 2nd gear, release clutch, step on accelerator. van start moving.
