I've tried VirtualBox once and there's a few times during setup I just got lost and I consider myself very technical :s13:

Parallels Desktop is definitely worth it. User-friendly and great performance. one of the great feature I like is Coherence, Windows working alongside your mac(not just in a window within OS X) - see below example.

See my signature for specs of my portable Mac. I've only allocated 1GB for windows during setup and have no issues with performance but I don't do any heavy tasks on windows. In any case you can move around the memory allocation within parallels easily.

I use VirtualBox mainly n it's easy to use. Get Parallels if u want e coherence mode. with most macs now running on ssd, not sure if there is any significant speed differences between VirtualBox n Parallels. Parallels n VMWare used to b faster I believe.

I am not sure about VirtualBox but Parallels also support DirectX 10, so you can also do some light to moderate gaming.

But you will still miss out on some of the graphical enhancements that are supported only by Direct X 11.

I am using Parallels 10 and it's great.

I just got an iMac and am using Parallels 10. I haven't tried other software, but so far, haven't found a need yet. But then, I am still new to iMac and Parallels.

if u are developing windows apps or .exe application. better off with windows laptop. why would u get a mac and install windows and develope ur things in virtual enviroment ? get a laptop and access full speed of it.

no need to worry about ram and space issue

Don't you think it is a bit narrow minded if you are speaking from a developer stand point? Besides where was it mentioned in the thread that it was to develop windows application?

I think one will be constraining itself to imagine development must happen only within your own laptop and neglect what a different platform can offer beyond.

Because you can! haha simple as that.

If I need to use a specific machine for a specific task just because it's better and efficient than the other, that will make it inefficient and not productive at all! :D

At the current age, we gotta be dynamic, being traditional minded will not make us progress with technology.
