Feel free to share the sweet spot for clock speeds in different iPhones.
Must be jailbroken to overclock.
Overclocking means to speed up your processing speed to improve performance of your phone.
Disclaimer: Attempt this at your own risk. Phone may crash if stressed too much.
iPhone 3GS 600Mhz to 800Mhz
iPhone 4 800Mhz to ???
iPhone 4S 800Mhz to ???
iPhone 5 1.3Ghz to 1.6/1.7Ghz
How to Overclock:
Go to Jailbreak App "iFile"
/private/etc/fstab ->open text viewer and add lines from the top.
su
alpine
sysctl -w hw.cpufrequency_max=xxx000000
sysctl -w hw.cpufrequency=xxx000000
sysctl -w hw.cpufrequency_min=xxx000000
take xxx as clock speed, e.g. (800mhz , 1300Mhz) the 6 zeros at the back is use as standard for Mhz. if using 800Mhz as clock speed. input xxx000000 as 800000000. if using 1.3Ghz as clock speed. input xxx000000 as 1300000000. (make sure you get the numbers right)
Example in Overclocking for iPhone 5:
su
alpine
sysctl -w hw.cpufrequency_max=1600000000
sysctl -w hw.cpufrequency=1300000000
sysctl -w hw.cpufrequency_min=1000000000
sysctl -w hw.cpufrequency_max= means the maximum possible processor speed you set.
sysctl -w hw.cpufrequency= means the standard speed the original processor already have, can safely run at.
sysctl -w hw.cpufrequency_min= means the lowest clock speed your iPhone will run at when not in need of processing power eg, during standby mode or browsing the web.
Hope this helps those overclockers out there.
