are they any particular places that are more lively during the weekends?

thinking to fly earlier and come back on sat(cheaper) or fly later and stay over the weekend.

been there before but didn't stay there for long as I travel to bagan and inle lake last yr.

I would use this word 'lively' to describe yangon, is usually pretty quiet at night.

and to me, is not worth going for a short trip becos u need to pay for the visa too...

it's easier to ask a Burmese travel agent in Peninsular Plaza to apply for you since they know the procedure very well. The only downside is that it takes 3 working days via the agent.

I had collected my VISA. It is quite easy.

Step 1: Read how to apply VISA ==>http://visa.mesgservice.com/doc/article/myanmar-visa-application-guide

Make sure you have prepare all the needed photo and document. Before you proceed to Step 2

Step 2: Once you have all the doc on hand. U can make online appointment. It will email you the Q number. Remember to print out that appointment letter ==> http://visa.mesgservice.com/

Step 3: Go to Myanmar embassy on the appointment date.
Morning submit those doc. They will issue you a collect number receipt.

Step 4: Afternoon went back and collect your passport with VISA. Base on collect number receipt

VISA Fee: SGD $35
Admin Fee: SGD $10

I paid in CASH. Not sure do they accept NETS or Credit Card.

No need everyone to be there for VISA submission. Just one representative will do.

As I engage Tour agent from Myanmar. I ask them to fax over the confirmation letter to embassy and I print out a copy in case Myanmar VISA officer ask.

Package Tour Groups of EVT (Package tour) visa applicants are required a confirmation letter from their respective land operator in Myanmar stating the names and passport nos. of the tour members. The confirmation letter should be confirmed by the land operator in Myanmar directly to the Embassy of the Union of Myanmar by fax or email. Land operator must be a registered company under Myanmar Company Act.

Do note, need to go very early. Run the risk of even waiting till late noon just to get it submitted.
Thus will advise you to pass it on to the agent to run the errand for you.

i went to the embassy before its opening hours. I will not recommend going early unless you got time to spare or need to rush somewhere after that.
