Just wondering how to RMA when you need to. And there's a risk of DOA too, is there, with the long shipping period. Asking because they seem like the only source for 5tb drives.

for those 5TBs allow to ship directly to singapore?

maybe u can drop the their CSO a chat see how their policy or they expect you to rma directly with the manufacturer there

most likely you need to pay for the shipping to USA at least

I bought a WD my book 4TB from Amazon. The region for the warranty can be changed when you require RMA.
Search my previous posts.

Submit request through the WD support portal. Not sure need receipt or not.

The HDD is reflected in the support portal with the warranty expiry date after i registered it ,just that the warranty status says out of region.

I submitted the request and attached my amazon invoice but they said they will change the region only when I require RMA.

Yup, required a rma for my wd drive bought from Amazon. Was out of region, but manage to request warranty and the replacement that came subsequently showed valid warranty.

If this is practised consistently then getting overseas is ok

Yes WD 2TB ultra. Only got it recently this year.

Showed out of region. Raised a support ticket, told them I needed warranty, they requested for my Amazon receipt. Subsequently created a rma mailer, send in and the replacement that came was registered as valid warranty.

Not sure about internal drives though.
