Hi all, I am planning to purchase a Vehicle Tracking hardware to manage my fleet. However, I am concerned whether it can be used long term (I.e. 2G network is going to be phased out). So can anybody help me take a look at my hardware, before I purchase.

GSM/GPRS (850, 900, 1800, 1900MHz)

Kindly extend a helping hand, as I am terribly confused, as to whether it would work long term or not, and whether it can work on the 3G GSM network in Singapore.

GSM is 2G technology, which is the one that will be shutting down next April.

What you should do is to maybe contact M1 (business) on what will they be doing when they activate NB-IoT technology next year, which would be on M1 4G but power consumption much lower than typical LTE (4G) radios.

If you can't wait, then get WCDMA 3G/LTE 4G ones. GSM cannot be used already.

I think locally Singtel already has such device. You may want to check with them on pricing.
