The 5 days JR Kansai–Hiroshima Pass, , like not enough, wanna visit Naoshima Island, Okayama, maybe Kurashiki so is it good idea just fly directly to Hiroshima, stay 2 nights then activate the pass on the 3rd night ?

Is Fukuoka worth visiting ?
Fukuoka and Kitakyushu were boring for me when I went sometime ago. Read that food is good tho. And the queues are said to be more manageable for some of the popular chains that have outlets in the bigger cities.

I like Iwakuni. Quite peaceful place and the view around the bridge area was relatively scenic.

Onomichi also quite scenic around the port and probably if you go island hopping on the ferry.

You can consider Amanohashidate too. I haven't been but when I next visit that region, I'm planning to go. Klook has the day tour with the recently popular Ine Funaya.

Upon rechecking, the JR Setouchi Area Pass might be better for naoshima as it seems to cover the ferries while the JR Sanyo Sanin Area Pass doesn't seem to. 1000 yen cheaper.

My itinerary 2n Hiroshima - 1n Onomichi, 3n Okayama and back to Osaka utilizing the 7 days wide area pass.

Okayama as base to Naoshima island and several others within the vicinity.
That’s very compact and tight trip? But looks like all planned.

had u done the maths to see if the jr pass is worth it?

The Sanyo Sanin Pass is very worth it, I'll be using Shinkansen, my first day from Kansai Airport to Hiroshima already covered more than half alone.

The star of Hiroshima is undoubtedly Miyaijima Island. In fact that was the highlight of my trip. Always go there super early, reach there 8am and there weren't any crowd. When I go down the ropeway at 1pm, the place was super crowded.

Hiroshima itself is not bad, I like the city vibes. I reached there 4pm and stay 2 nights which is not enough. Need at least 2 full days to enjoy the place. Always stay near the bullet train area, I had the best food over there at Ekie dining area.

1 day - Miyaijima Island only
1 day - AM Onimichi , then noon A bomb Memorial and museum + the shopping district area next to it.

Any update?

If have a choice I would rather stay at the Kurashiki area. Pros about Okayama is there's less tourists, the hotels are amazing, big space and bar quite cheap. If you want to visit the nearby islands, might as well stay at the island itself, i only went to Naoshima Island.

If you need a "base", I'd rather pick Hiroshima.

Ok, I shall go Hiroshima instead.

And yes, I heard of Miyajima island and intend to visit there when I'm in Osaka but I guess it's worth to stay for a couple of days.

Pardon my ignorance but izzit safe? I mean the atomic bomb radiation thingy? 👀
