The outer casing got some shioking feeling, actually there is a AC current flowing on surface pro 3 whenever the power cable is connected!

See the test pen lighted up orange both left and right sides. :(

The power brick has 3 pins plug, but the cord is only 2 pins, that means there is no earth wire into the surface pro 3 power cable. M$ engineers should not have made this mistake :s11::eek:

RMA is useless since a replacement adapter will still have such problem. :vijayadmin:

actually I knew about it, maybe M$ will change the power brick with a new design with earth wire to ground the chassis.

Got the same slight shioking issue when my mbp is plugged in but didnt give too much tots to it. Now that u mentioned sp3 also have it.. could it be because of the aluminum chasis material both mbp and sp3 are using, instead of the usual plastic material used by other vendors?

The power cord is for Singapore used ? Is strange that power brik is 3 pins but cord is 2 pins only.

Yes the power brick on Surface pro 3 is a 2 pins plug, even my old fujitsu laptop adapter has it earthed. I can get a shock just by touching the mag alloy case on the Surface pro 3.

The voltage reads over 110V, I certainly dont feel good having such high voltage in my body.

2 pins one is usually for USA market. Singapore one should have the certify logo on it.
If you use the 2 pins one, try to reverse the plug to your AC outlet see if situation improved.

Was a problem on the older Surface Pro 1 as well. Also 2 pin plug only for SG version. I think all power supplies for the Surface line has only 2 pins.

The issue is compounded when you need to rest your wrist on the tablet for writing/drawing. Kanna shocked quite a few times. One dumbass workaround is to make sure, if barefooted, not to let your feet touch the ground (either rest your feet on the chair 'wheels', or have a carpet between your feet and the ground.

Sad that they still have not solved this issue.
