You are not the only one who regretted....this is what one of my colleague relate to me: his laptop spacebar was coming loose, brought it to them for repair. At first after checking the machine, quote a reasonable price for repair, so he agreed. The very next day, call up my colleague to say that motherboard also spoil, so have to change, cost more than $500.....my colleague hit the roof becos it was 100% working fine, only the spacebar need to replace becos coming loose...and now they tell him got this big problem....so he say never mind, don't repair and went to take back his computer becos for $500 rather buy a new one. When he took back his machine, discover scratches all over, and even have one screw missing. Wrote in but no reply till this day... lan lan.. lesson learnt....
Just saw your msg here. Your feedback is taken seriously and we have done an primarily investigation.
Below are the findings:
1) We have scan through all our PMs records and emails for the past 3 years. (We record down all PM feedbacks for the past years). Did not find any emails or PMs that even near to your description here using your username, surname, spacebar fault check in units. Space bar keyboard fault are quite rare, all our 11 records (for the past 3 years) on this fault does not show any similarities to what you have described.
We also take effort to settle all customers related issues, else the case cannot be closed. Our customer service department would have follow up with any unclosed cases.
2) We rarely have any laptops repairs charges that exceed $300 for motherboard repairs. We also RARELY change motherboards as our motherboard repair success rates are higher than 93%. Any models that require motherboard replacement will automatically be flagged in our system. Our technicians are measured by the capabilities to repair a motherboard successfully and the technician year end performance evaluation
will decrease if he try to propose for motherboard replacement. Thus motherboard replacements are rare and unlikely in most cases.
All repairs charges/invoices are also recorded and audited.
3) For space bar loose issue, the repair is all done on the spot. No way a spacebar loose issue can turned into a motherboard issue with our current SOP, UNLESS your colleague specifically request to check in the unit and diagnose for other issues.
