anyone has bought a camera from value basket before?

I'm looking to buy a camera, and they have the cheapest price. Apparently it ships from Hong Kong. I asked if I would have to pay any customs duties (gst), seeing as the product costs over S$400, but they replied that the courier will take care of everything. And also, the website states that the camera is covered by a 12-month manufacturer warranty. When I called them, they said if there is a problem, I would have to drop off the camera at a company here in Singapore, and they would send it back to the camera manufacturer for repairs.

Should I purchase the camera from them? It is about $120 cheaper than what I would be able to get at the retail stores here.

I was looking for my samsung galaxy s iii online about a month ago, and i came across this website too. The website was new to me as i've never heard of them before that day, but the site looked decent to me.

The reason i bought from them was because the price was very tempting, and i saw from my research that they had an office here in Singapore. They also offered payment thr. paypal, so that i knew if anything happened, i was protected and could get my money back by raising a dispute thr. paypal.

This story ends well, and i received my order about 4 days after. The phone has been working well since then, i would recommend this site to others based on my experience.

And to answer your question about the customs duties (gst), there's no worry about that since the advertised price online is what i ended up paying. I saw that they have COD available now too, so you don't pay for your camera until it's delivered. Sounds like a pretty good way to go if you are worried.

Hey it could be. i was also researching as to whether to buy from them. they are just way cheaper! but someone on the linked forum below said that they sold counterfeit (confirmed by nikon!) Better play safe and buy from reputable sellers! Hope this helps!

My bad experience with ValueBasket

I purchased a Tamron camera lens from them as it was about 25% cheaper than elsewhere. There was no indication that it would be shipped from Hong Kong. The package was shipped by Toll Group in Singapore who added to their tracking notes that I was to get in touch with them. They did not bother to contact me upon realizing there was a problem, instead they just waited for me to call them. The phone number listed on their tracking email did not work. Neither did the one provided by ValueBasket. They did not immediately respond to my email. When I did find a working telephone number, it automatically pushed me to voicemail.

While some might think the fault lies with Toll Group and not ValueBasket, a company is only as good as the agents they use. If by shopping with ValueBasket you must use Toll Group, then I would steer clear of ValueBasket. I seriously doubt I am the first and only person to experience this nightmare after buying from ValueBasket.

A final note that will not be popular. I have lived in the UK and USA previously and feel that Singapore has the worst customer service I have experienced. Given that Singaporeans pay more than anyone else in the world for the same items, I think Customer Service should be much improved. Sadly, Singaporeans seem to unquestionably accept this sub-sub standard service.

My lousy experience with value basket

I order a Lumix GX 1 on August 2013.
After a long wait of 1 month I still did not get my product.
I am so frustrated that I decided to cancel my order and get a refund.
Then the refund was delayed, lots of empty promises (more than 5 times through support emails) that I will get my refund in a few days. But until now (Nov 2013) I still didn't receive my refund.

Worst to come, I called their help line a few times but no body answers.
