Anyone is also using the StarHub UltraSpeed (10Gbps)? I am so frustrated. (Solved by upgrading ONR firmware.)

Okay, assuming that I change to wifi 7 hardware for my desktop, what kinda wifi speed can I roughly expect. I’m only around 5metres away from the 810ev router

Another thing is, I thought the spec for 5ghz on the 810ev router is up to 5760mbps, how come I’m only getting 1gbps ah?
The spec for 5ghz is for wifi 7 issit?

you mentioned previously getting about 800Mbps for desktop Wifi 6 when on 1Gbps broadband plan. That makes sense cos we will never get the total promised bandwidth.

Now that you switched to 10Gbps plan, check how much the Wifi 6 card installed on the desktop is limiting what can be received. For example, if the 5Ghz band portion of the card is only able to receive 1.2Gbps max, then getting 1Gbps actual bandwidth makes sense.

Even if we install a 10Gbps Ethernet card into the desktop, we won't get a full 10Gbps. 8.xGbps already very good liao.

But check what is the max spec of the Wifi 6 card at 5Ghz transmission, which may be way below 2.5Gbps. Maybe (but I don't say I am sure ah) this is where the bottleneck is.

You need to understand the marketing vs reality.

Vendor Spec: https://www.tp-link.com/sg/service-provider/wifi-router/eb810v/
  • BE22000 Tri-Band WiFi: 11520 Mbps (6 GHz, EHT320) + 8640 Mbps (5 GHz, EHT240) + 1376 Mbps (2.4 GHz, EHT40).†△
Reality -- usually you can not get EHT240 to work under the 5GHz band, you will only get EHT160 (160MHz channel bandwidth). The max PHY speed will be 5764 Mbps (4 x 4 160MHz channel width, 4096 QAM).

WiFi 7 clients are only up to 2 x 2. So you will only get up to 2882 Mbps PHY speed with 4096 QAM. 4096 QAM is usally achievable at very close range. So in the end you may only get 1024 QAM to work. Then the PHY speed is only up to 2402Mbps, same as good WiFi 6 clients (2 x 2 160MHz channel bandwidth, 1024 QAM).

You can check the PHY connection speed of your computer to see if it is 2882Mbps or 2402Mbps or 1201 Mbps.

Then the real world speed will be lower, usually the real world speed is about 50% to 70% of the PHY connection speed.

Good 2*2 WiFi 6 client will get about 1.4Gbps to 1.8Gbps at about 3m distance, if you get connection speed of 2882Mbps (4096QAM) or 2402Mbps (1024 QAM).

If you only get connection speed of 1201Mbps, then the real world speed will be about 600Mbps to 800Mbps.

2x2 WiFi 7 clients on the 6GHz band may be much faster because of EHT320 (320MHz channel bandwidth, 4096 QAM). Max PHY speed can go up to 5764 Mbps and real world close range speed can go above 3Gbps. However, Singapore only approved the lower 6GHz band so you may not be able to get EHT320 working. EHT240 should be achievable at close range. In that case, you should be able to get above 2Gbps WiFi speed at close range.

For desktop to enjoy full WiFi 7 benefits like MLO, you have to get WiFi 7 adapter and wait for the release of Windows 11 24H2.

Typical WiFi speed from TP-Link Archer BE800 for reference when connected to 2x2 WiFi 6/6E client. EB810v and Archer BE805 will be similar.

Correct if change to wifi 7 router without the wifi 7 client it is same same speed as using wifi 6 router la.
My laptop is high end so can get wifi speed at 1600 mbps via wifi 6 2x2. I am happy with it.

hm, i just upgraded my desktop wifi card to MSI Herald Wifi 7 using Qualcomm NCM865 chip. I could see the 6ghz network occasionally, and could not connect to the 6ghz network at all..

I had to buy the Qualcomm chip rather than the Intel BE200 bcos Im using an AMD motherboard, and its been documented that the BE200 doesnt run on AMD motherboards.

Any idea why i can't connect to the 6ghz wifi?

amd motherboard works with this, you using which one? I can get 2.5gbps dl ul through 6ghz with eb810v

try update latest wifi driver, the first two, one for wifi other for bluetooth if you connected the internal usb cable

I checked the MSI website, the wifi card is only compatible with AMD B550 and later..mine is B450m

Can I also check ah, do I have to set the channel bandwidth on my desktop so that its able to connect at 320mhz?

Under device manager, i only see 2.4ghz and 5ghz, and they only have 20mhz/Auto.

6ghz channel bandwidth doesnt even appear.

In its device manager there is one option called high bandwidth or high speed, you need to change drop down box to enabled

My is about 3m from router in for 6ghz, can depend how far yours from router

I am on 10Gbps..... I am getting 3Gbps with a x540-AT2 NIC. Upload can goes to 5Gbps though. That is 30%-50% of promised bandwidth....

Cables are Cat 6 from pc to EB810v@LAN1 port

What are you guys getting?

Same issue as me la, speed slow down during peak hours. Better complain to SH. Look like as more people signed up, not enough bandwidth for every users.

Read this > https://www.imda.gov.sg/resources/p...sg-investing-ahead-for-nbn-to-be-future-ready

Most likely the issue will be resolved only after the upgrade which is 2 years.

The slow down during peak hours may not affect users real internet world performance as most of the time 1Gbps is sufficient so they just drag on the case. I am just guessing, may be wrong.

Can anyone let me know what is the model of ONT that Starhub provides for the 10gbps plan?
