Anyone tried replacing thermal paste for GPU?

Has anyone tried replacing thermal paste for your GPU? Problem is the stupid warranty void if seal is broken sticker covering the screw holes. My temps are quite high and i want to try applying a different thermal paste. Also considering deshrouding since i use a SFFPC. Sadly Zotac does not allow any tampering.

For Zotac not worth it as it will void your warranty. If temps causing issues you can RMA. Thats what the 5 years are for. Why get your hands dirty when they will do it for you.

EVGA was the only one who allowed water block installation and still cover it under warranty AFAIK. Now they ditched nvidia.

I replaced thermal paste + thermal pads for my sapphire nitro+ 5700 XT, temperatures improved but end up GPU still crashing as it is already faulty, this was also confirmed by Nigel

is not only this question.. question is what type of processor and gpu is he using. maybe based on overseas reviewers, unknowing that our room temperature and theirs are different. I have witness some who whack 13900k with a 3090ti in a Q58 and expect a 280 rad to cool everything. it's an oven.

I using the ncase m1 with Ryzen 5600X and RTX 3080. Its quite tight. I mean its fine after undervolting and stuff. Temps hovering around GPU 76 degrees for more demanding games. But it can get quite loud. So i'm trying to see if got any solutions lol. Saw aliexpress got the warranty sticker can try buying. But im pretty sure once they open the card up in factory and see the different thermal pads/ different colored thermal paste they will know

Somemore these days so hot. If can find ways to lower the temp that would be better

Haha man face palm i forgot to register the extended warranty with zotac. I only did the convergent warranty. so only got 3 year warranty which will expire this year december. If nothing goes wrong, then probably after it expires ill just whack. Ya i used to buy EVGA, but this time i had to go Zotac. The EVGA card was too big and long plus i bought in 2020 during GPU shortage lol so not much options

Temps don't look too crazy, can try adjusting the fan curve to reduce the noise as much as possible

The card still is relatively new, feels like changing thermal paste given the age of the card is more trouble than it is worth

Few option you can lower the temp further in general perspective depends on your monitor resolution:

1. Reduce or cap fps to 90 or 60 for single player games

2. Undervolting based on your gpu specifications of GPU clock speed

3. Play at high setting instead ultra.

4. Use DLSS balance/performance mode instead of quality.

5. Lower RT to high/medium if enabled

If you can specify on your gpu model and specific GPU/game setting as example probably can help to analyze better. Data from HWinfo on the GPU performance is very good indicator too.

but to answer the questions, I'm running a 5600x with RTX 3080 on 1440p monitor with gsync. I cap my FPS to 141fps, undervolted to 1800mhz on 825mv. I use DLSS quality where possible and generally disable RT. I play all sorts of games, lately playing darktide (which isnt really optimised tbh).

Yeah can drop settings to high/ use quality DLSS but i dont think anyone would buy a XX80 series card to drop settings

You have decent undervolting profile

If your gpu undervolting profile at 1440p running at less than 300w it will be good, however if you noticed it's always going above 300w then probably some fps cap will definitely help for cooler temp since for single player hard to notice between 90 vs 141 fps, unless your system have high latency issue.

If you are undervolting the GPU usage in game should normally above 95~99% if observe with any OSD, however if the usage is below 90% then something is not right consider 5600x should not be bottleneck the 3080 in single core performance.

Change case like Cooler Master NR200 or a ITX case like this NZXT H210i.

ITX case generally don't have good airflow so temps definetely be very high compare
with standard cases.

i thought that with SFF i could you know bring it around / use my computer in different locations like connect it to the TV to play games, etc. But in the end its still pretty troublesome with all the cables and stuff. In future i'll most likely go back to matx for ease of building in. Like right now i dont have space for additional storage options and i had to spend extra $$ getting case fans and stuff.

Maybe not related, but i also face same issue with my 3060 (always fans running full speed even with light gaming) , but lucky my CPU also overheating (i even bought an AIO first to install and when installing, then find out my case fans were very dusty and the airflow was very bad..... Cause fans have bright RGB, hard to see the dust on the opaque fans vs black fans. Put my hand in front of the fan like no wind. Plus the fans are Dreamcore in house fans (its a Dreamcore PC) so not sure about the fan's performance. After cleaning, slight improvement..BUT temps still a bit high at times...

Your temps are pretty decent imo; I'm assuming your case being SFF doesn't have amazing airflow.

I've done the repad, repaste and deshroud on my 3080 and slapped on noctuas, been running fine for over 2 years. I went ahead and voided the warranty after I confirmed the stock card had no issues.

Definitely made a difference, but I was still peaking at maybe 70 degrees in a Fractal Design R6. Switched over to a Torrent with the same card and it doesn't go over 62 degrees now; my UV is around 1890mhz/900mv.

Don't think is in house.
Is either Tecware or Joshua than rebranded as Dream core which Aftershock also does the same.
Only if you build from Sim Lim Square than the case you can choose.
Builders usually choose the cheapest case and build in it.

If under warranty, just send it back to the disti n tell them the pbm.
I done mine after the warranty is over. Temp dropped bk to normal.(including cleaning the HS and fan).
