I was trying to book a hotel and everything is in SGD but yet at payment, it says this transaction will be processed in Spain. Hmm, what does this mean?

Can screenshot? Without seeing exact words, my guess is that the OTA is just reserving the room with your cc details, and actual payment will be done at the hotel upon checkin/checkout?

Wait, you are booking for a Japan hotel but it says payment in Spain? What?

Two options. Can choose payment at hotel or pay now at lower price but it says payment will be processed in spain.

Why not try others like booking.com, Expedia, Zuji and others?

My preferred is booking.com. Also have used expedia and agoda. First time trying hotels.com because already sold out at other sites. Anyway, i hesitated and now also sold out at hotels.com.

Yes, all credit card banks will charge an additional fee if you book with Hotels.com beacuse it is an oversea-based company (something like that).

I have experienced that too. The bank sms me to say $x has been charged to my credit card. But when the bill came, the amount is $x x 0.8%.

I prefer to book with Agoda. What you see on the screen in SGD is the amount you pay.

Try Japanican, Jalan.net, Rakuten Travel.

Just checked my recent bookings. Both japanican and expedia also have another 1% extra charges(conversion charges, i think) in addition to the amount charged.

Are you using any Private Internet access services? Where is your IP address?

I have been using Hotels.com and other booking services without any problems at all. Definitely not one that force you to pay in other currencies.

I have compare websites before while booking the same hotel at same period - Agoda seem to give more lower rates that other but there's catch. Other sites slightly higher rate give option to cancel or pay on-site while agoda got the lesser "option to cancel". But still cheaper in rate which I preferred.

Agoda’s prices are not yet inclusive of taxes too.

In Agoda, if you select the room and click all the way, the amount shown is tax included. The room rate for the “Low rate non-refundable” are of very low price. If you have decided the dates and to stay in that hotel, there is no need to choose the refundable option.
