Anyone used taiwan rail pass before?

Where can we buy it locally, or must we go there and collect from a train office?

I plan to make a few trips from Taipei to taizhong and tainan across a few days so I think it may be worth it for me. Has anyone used it before?

i saw the info page by msia travel but not sure how it works because they say for a 3-day pass, you can stay in any area for up to 2 days before taking the HSR again. So there's a limit to how long you can stay?

My plan is something like

Sunday: Go from Taipei to Taizhong in morning, then go back to Taipei at night.

Wednesday: Go from Taipei to Kaohsiung in morning, then go back to Taipei at night.

Thursday: Go from Taipei to Tainan in morning, then go back to Taipei at night.

Not sure if this would work with the 5-day rail pass either because I think the 5-day rail pass only gives you 2 days of HSR trips and the rest are local train only?

There are 2 types of 3 day passes.

1 is consecutive 3 days, and the other is can use 3 out of 7 days. (felxible)

Latter one is slightly more expensive.

either buy locally or go to travel agent in tw (not all agent sell, check with information tourist counter on which travel agent sell) to buy, the HSR counter do not sell the voucher

after you buy voucher, go to HSR counter to exchange for the booklet.

5 days consecutives pass.
Imho, ur plan sucks.

Edit: 3 days flexi works for u.
Think less abt 150sgd.

no choice, i am meeting people to do potoshoots with them so i have to fit their schedule. for the 3 day flexi, since my wed trip is 3 days from the sunday trip, can i still use the pass? because the misa travel website said we can stay up to 2 days in each destination.

already indicated above one week can use any 3 days for flexi.

Actually another possibility is go there to shoot TWMM, hence no choice gotta cover one's own expenses
