Anyone uses iMessage here?

Seems like a major reason people choose to stick with Iphone (at least in the US) is because all their friends are on iMessage. Feels weird that in Singapore no one uses it because they are on Whatsapp, Wechat or some other program.

Do you sometimes wish more people use iMessage or just don't care? For me I refuse to install other chat apps like Line or Telegram. Just Whatsapp and SMS is good enough.

Yea in the US it seems that iMessage is the one that people are sticking to the iPhone. I’m really hoping that people here can do the same but most are used to WhatsApp. It’s like the main platform for messaging.

iMessage is really great on iOS 10 due to the stickers there. Tried it couple of times and is really interactive. Better than WhatsApp at times.

Not sure if the people in the US don’t use it because WhatsApp is owned by Facebook and afraid of the privacy data?

WhatsApp only.

iMessage is annoying to me, that is, because you never know sometimes, eg if you're overseas want to send message, but no data even though connected then can become roaming SMS.

So I disabled it.

Although I know it has nice stickers and all, but text message for me is just for text.

There’s the Send as SMS option to disable.

I think one reason it's difficult to use imessage is if your friend is on android, they receive it as SMS. They of course prefer to send a reply on Whatsapp since it uses data. Is Iphone the most common phone in the US?

It’s pretty much common with I think 76% of the youths/teens are using an iPhone in the US.

Unlike here where it is much more diversed.

Like what some said. probably here people tend to use Whatsapp as it is across different platform when here we have iOS and Android OS users.

just like my wife, she used to iMessage me previously. out of the blue, ask me why I didn't use whatsapp to send her messages instead.. I wonder what was the change of her thinking... Then I guess likely is the "Online", "delivered", "read" status that make her want to use whatsapp instead so she will know if I "when last on line" as well....

I have also tried using iMessage to send group messages. 3 party, myself, my wife and a spare phone which my daughter uses occasionally... not bad as has stickers there and can scribble or indicates hearts and stuff..

Whatsapp you dont have to guess whether the other party is on iPhone/Android. Whatsapp allows you to backup and export your chat conversations. You can easily add other parties to the conversations (not restricted to platform). Whatsapp web is so convenient to use.

recently, try sending photos via imessage. time taken (to send and receive by the other party) is longer as compared to whatsapp. so, conclusion, whatsapp wins

I think if Apple makes iMessage on Android, more people will use iMessage but I doubt Apple will do so.

Because that’s what keeping people to stick to iPhone right?

In Singapore, imessage will NEVER take off. Doesn't matter if it's on iOS or on android.

Same like telegram, end up still many people sticking to WhatsApp and treat telegram as secondary messaging platform.

It really depends on the community you're in!
In my campus, the other way is true.

Your that report is for teen. Overall only 44% is iphone users in US.

I had the same problem as u last time. So I disabled the SMS feature if iMessage failed to send.

As for me and my gf. Both using iphone so we prefer iMessage . Only their frends using WhatsApp.

I do have a group chat at iMessage and who is the sender a little bit too difficult to recognise .as the name shown sometimes is contact name and sometimes is email.

I can use iMessage on my iphone, ipad and iMac.

Hardly use. Most of my friends on WhatsApp.
