Android 14 is definitely very far from being old or outdated.

Even Android 9 can run all apps comfortably well.

Maybe if Android 8 and earlier then I will consider that old and outdated.

my mum has Huawei mate 10 pro wor

android 10.

she uses it for social media and Whatsapp and for her hearing aids

thankfully finance and govt apps wise i force her to Migrate to iphone 15 plus

which also suddenly become just outdated ah

If use banking apps, best to have a phone with updated software and security patches. Can buy a cheap phone with 2 year updates or so. Look at the cheap Xiaomi or Poco phones.

Got 3rd party ROMs. But need to check if your hardware is supported. If is those niche brand can forget about it

Possible but i'm not sure if you want to go through the hassle of installing custom ROMs with later versions of Android than what is officially supported by the phone manufacturer.

And if the phone is being used for banking transactions or stuff requiring Singpass, you might want to research around a bit because they might not play nice on certain custom ROM versions

But it is a fun project for school holidays. So why not?

Some China phones with international ROMs are good candidates. Redmi, OnePlus, Pinephone etc

Android 9 max on my phone

But now new samsung flagship good, they mostly give u up to 7 upgrade

Last time wher got so good, 2-3 time update and no more and u stuck with wadever last android ver they giv even if ur phone is good for another 5-6 yrs
