oh, i didn't know that Shopee sells Schneider Electric switches too. Are they from local source or imported from other countries? Probably good to take note on the fulfillment leadtime and price.

Good to know that all these players are leveraging on ecommerce platform. Seems like physical shops will suffer badly if this trend was to continue. I remember walking around all these lighting shops when i was renovating my house and all those common brands such as Philips, Schneider Electric... all popping out everywhere.

what is the difference between local vs parallel import? Quality issue or warranty concern? Schneider Electric switches also have parallel import? If so, i guess should be cheaper?

I have finally made up my mind which switches to go for. After much consideration between Legrand, Gira and SchneiderElectric, I have decided to go for Schneider Electric Pieno. It looks elegant and the shop gave me a good price. It is a happy day.

Hi may I know where you purchase your Schneider Switches? Is it really cheaper compare to Legrand?

Many things are made in China now. We can't deny that. And "made in china" does not mean that it is fake. To be frank, no other countries can fake as well as them.

You are right. Not all MIC products are bad quality.

but from Schneider Electric the quality should be dependable right? idk. doesn't feel like it'll be scam. looking at the reviews also helps paint a good picture of their quality

Personally I preferred MK. Use Schneider switch once before. Fail after around 5 years. My previously switch make in UK one (come with my house, forgot the brand) last me 20+ years.

alphau, rather than searching from online, why don't you check out from hardware shops or lighting shops? They will be able to give you the advice you need. :)

I want to change my very old MK light switches and wall sockets.

I’m considering those universal plug wall sockets. But most local online stores don’t carry it. Why? Not safe? Or should I stick with the stand types?

What to you call those box cases that hold the switches and sockets? Mine are not recessed inside the wall. Box type. The ones I find online are recessed type.

I don’t think I can use the existing ones because the two screws are diagonally opposite each other. Most switches’ screws are left and right.

The wall socket box cases, maybe I can using the existing ones. Are all wall sockets standardised sizes for the screws?
Should be able to lah. The normal wall sockets for hdb is 86x86 type. The screws will be provided when u buy the sockets. If u are unable to use the existing boxes, just take a picture and show to the hardware shop and they will be able to advise u. I changed my new hdb bto sockets to schneider sockets bought in malaysia and there is no issue with the screws.

I need to know what I’m asking. Otherwise, these shops think I noob and will chop carrot.

The problem is, it’s not 86x86.

On top of that, I’m considering those universal type so that I don’t have to use adaptors or convertors.

Is there like a supermart just selling everything electrical in Singapore? Those DIYs too limited.

Sg wall sockets are 86x86. That's the size of 1 socket (length x breadth). It does not matter whether u are using normal 3 pin socket or universal socket. Even if u buy from taobao and u choose 86x86 sockets, it will fit Singapore socket. 1 socket is 1 gang. 2 sockets joined together in a pair is known as 2 gang and 3 sockets joined as a trio is known as 3 gang. The same concept goes for switches.

Try choo chiang. My go to electrical specialists in sg.if Malaysia is not in lockdown, i would recommend u to go jb to buy. It's damn cheap!
