Would be good to describe what activities you are interested in. Food/scenery/cultural/things you can't see in singapore/otaku stuff/electronics/generic

Many itineraries around. However if you're in Osaka and Kansai area. Lots of places are within reach with short train rides in same or shorter travel time travelling east to west on the MRT.

Day trips from Osaka:
Himeji - 1-1.5h by local trains
Kobe - 30m by local trains can be done on same day as Himeji too
Kyoto - 30m by local trains (lots of people choose to stay in Kyoto but with such short travel time its not necessary as Kyoto is a sleepy city, you can prob return to Osaka at night for the night life)
Nara - 30m by local trains

If it's your first trip to Japan then you'll hardly spend a day in Osaka. Or if you're planning to spend your entire trip in Osaka then schedule 10 days where you can visit all the important places from the site suggested by @flowerpalms.

may be better to refer to japan-guide and decide which of the attractions u are more keen in. dun follow itineraries from website/guidebooks wholesale. do some research and customize the itinerary to suit your own preference

i personally feel that the places insideosaka itinerary is covering on their 2nd day can all be done in the evening/night, leaving the day time for sightseeing in places like kyoto or nara. places like dotonbori are more atmospheric at night, with all the iconic billboards lit up.

This year late nov is my first time to Japan. I planned for 8d7n and split the following:

4 days kyoto
1 day nara
2 days osaka
8th day is return to sg

I alrdy have kyoto and nara in my plan. In fact kyoto is my focus

4 days kyoto
1 day nara
2 days osaka

All following the itineraries from insidekyoto and insideosaka accordingly to the days

I agree with evilerniex. You shld take a look at japan eguide or its suggested itinerary too.

insidekyoto de is ji tao temples all the way leh. At the very least, u should be looking at the Two-Day Kyoto Fall Foliage Itinerary instead of the 4 days 1, at least that 1 got recommend evening illumination.

No plans to go kobe and himeji?

4 days Kyoto I feel may be a bit excessive for some. U must really love temples and shrines, else will get temple fatigue as mention by others in the other thread

Did try to convince him to come up with a itinerary using all the sources as a guide rather than to just stick to one and use what they have. But he insisted on using them so :look:

4 days in Kyoto is just nice? Mixture of temples and leisurely stroll along Gion, Arashiyama and Kawaramachi. That's what I did last time. Temple visits occupy only half a day and the rest just "hanging around with a bit of plan" lol

Sorry, can't help but to reply to your comments.

No point advising him. He did it in Thailand thread for his virgin BKK trip. He asked tons of questions, received lots of advice but he went ahead with his stubborn ways. Despite being there personally, he came back saying something like he had to use the toilet in his hotel room as toilets in Bangkok are dirty. :s22:

Don't be surprised if he comes back with negative comments about the Kansai area. :s13: Only good thing is he is positive about this trip unlike his Bangkok trip.

Adding on. I usually “filter” if I see such people. Pity no ignore list to create. There’s two in this group. Better use of my effort and time to help others instead.

There is ignore function in hwz forums. You will have to go to his user profile and under the "add to list" drop-down, there is an ignore list.
