Appeal to reverse perm ban

Mods maybe can consider temporary ban instead for a first-timer like this. If really buay song with her, can impose certain conditions for being unbanned, like posting an apology thread or something.

Don’t have anything against her but I think that she’d be in a better headspace being away from edmw with how she has posted recently

I dont know what happened these days since I wasn't active, but good for her to leave this space for a while cos if someone spents too much time here, not necessary will be good for mental wellness since the chitchats can go both ways. Mods can try to contact some ppl (who needs help) via PM on why he/she is ban and even go extra mile to give advices/concern/helpline than just a template msg .

I support 65% on banning when topics/language go against rules but 35% depends on context and intent of thread/reply.

SINGAPORE – 17 JUL 2023

IMDA has issued a Code of Practice for Online Safety (“Online Safety Code”), which takes effect from 18 July 2023. The Online Safety Code mitigates the risks from harmful social media content to Singapore users, especially children, by requiring designated Social Media Services (“SMSs”) to enhance online safety in Singapore and curb the spread of harmful content on their services. The categories of harmful content covered by the Code are: Sexual content, Violent content, Suicide and self-harm content, Cyberbullying content, Content endangering public health, and Content facilitating vice and organised crime.

The following explains the Warning system used in HardwareZone Forums. It automates certain process of the moderating duties while ensuring that the forum’s rules and regulations are adhered to.

These are some of the reasons (not exhaustive) that forum members may receive Warnings for:

• Content Facilitating Vice or Organized crime = Permanent Ban
• Content Endangering Public Health = 12 points
• Violent Content = 12 points
• Self-harm Content = 12 points
• Posting Sexual / Lewd / Indecent / Pornographic Comment or Content = 6 points
• Harassment / Cyberbullying = 6 points
• Doxing / Intrusion of Privacy = 6 points
• Racist / Discriminatory Comment = 6 points
• Posting Inappropriate Comment / Content / Language / Insults = 6 points
• Posting Misinformation (Unverified / Inaccurate / Debunked / Fake News / Conspiracies) = 6 points
• Copyright Infringement / Piracy = 6 points
• Forum Nuisance (Trolling / Posting Rubbish / Troublemaker / etc.) = 3 points
• Posting Unsolicited Content (Commercial Solicitation / Ads / Spam / Referral) = 3 points

A Warning may or may not carry Infraction points. Depending on the seriousness of the offence, Infraction points may be given with the Warnings. When a forum member accumulates 12 infraction points he/she will be automatically banned for 3 days.

You may view your Warnings on your Profile page. Other members cannot view how many Warnings you have. If you do not see the Warning tab that means you have not received any. Infraction points expire after 12 months and is accumulative as you continue to receive more Warnings with Infraction points.

Forum members who try to circumvent the temporary ban by posting under another username or account, will be banned permanently.

Please be aware that forum members who deliberately and viciously break our rules and regulations may be permanently banned without warning.

Decisions on the execution of Warnings, infraction points, temporary or permanent bans are up to the discretion of the HWZ team.

For reference, these are the temporary and permanent ban levels that are automatically issued by the system for the active infraction points accumulated:

12 Points => 3 Days Temporary Ban
18 Points => 7 Days Temporary Ban
24 Points => 2 Weeks Temporary Ban
30 Points => 1 Month Temporary Ban
36 Points => Permanent Ban

There are limits to how much we can tolerate testing the boundaries based on the guidelines from IMDA
and the points for offence are predefined.

There are helplines available, coming to social media or forum could worsen one's condition

I saw the beginning of the thread, didn't read much more but felt it was thought provoking, I don't think it warrants a ban. It can be a philosophical thread questioning the value of oneself, be it in a physical or mental perspective and if a monetary value can be placed on it. The way the thread moves on is dependent by how the community decides to digress from the subject topic. If it is due to this digression, then it's a moot point for perm ban. If there is no outright violation of rules, then at least the defendant should be given a chance to prove him/her innocence.

"How much will you pay to sleep someone" is certainly not a thought provoking or philosophical thread.

We have downgraded the points after review and discussion with Admin, but I advise all members to steer well clear of the topics predefine above, you dun joke and discuss about terrorism and drug / human / organ trafficking right? then please also do not joke / discuss about suicide and prostitution.
