Appealing into NUS FASS - Advice?

Hi guys!

Does anyone have any advice as to what to include in the online appeal essay for NUS? I intend to appeal for FASS, and the appeal essay is limited to only 1000 characters.

Some background info about me:
1. Offered NUS Science even though it was my 2nd choice, FASS being my 1st.
2. Didn't score well for A levels - BCC/C

I am also puzzled as to why they offered me Science when my application essay talked only about the courses in FASS.

Anyone been through a similar situation? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Correction for u, as long as its not a course with AAA/A cut off grades, its considered as a dumping ground by others.
ppl say computing also a dumping ground. hahaha

Actually FASS was my first choice... I guess the primary reason would be that i didn't meet the cutoff point for FASS. I heard of people who put FASS as their second choice but got it.. I'm hoping these ppl reject FASS and appeal out so i can get a place

Any advice as how i can appeal?

Hmmm, how does that work actually? Must my gpa be very high in order for my appeal to be granted? I'm hoping that i can avoid studying science totally actually so i really hope i can be granted a place in FASS in the appeal round. Any idea how i can increase my chances of successfully appealing?

heard one of my jc mate from sci transfer to fass after first year... dunno the detail but basically she cant cope with sci i think.... so u dun need high CAP to transfer...

If a student is admitted to, say, Mechanical Engineering, but did not do well in the course in the first year, will the faculty retract the offer or will they advise the student to review the area of specialisation?
It is not uncommon that some students do not do well in the course they have chosen and seek a transfer at the end of the first year. These students will be counselled on a case-by-case basis. Depending on the circumstances, they will have the option to transfer to other programmes within Engineering or other courses in the university. For computing, when u want to transfer from 1 major to another major within the faculty, they look at ur A lvl results for ur yr(Not ur CAP after 1 sem) and see if u meet the cut off for that yr. if u meet the cut off they will grant u to transfer.

Not too sure if this applies to interfaculty transfer which is slightly more complicated.

to TS: on a more serious note, i think the essay will be important for appeal - so try to convince them that you're serious about getting in. also, if you're going to just accept the offer, enroll in science then pray that you can transfer to FASS successfully, i hope you know that you're taking a huge risk, cuz failing which you'll be in stuck in science...
