Apple changed LTE logo or bad firmware or telco trying to cheat?

I got the 5S and noticed I don't have the option to 'Enable LTE' only 'Enable 4G'

After some digging there seems to be confusing info

This thread says if shows 4G means we're not actually on LTE network
http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/i...e-option-iphone-cellular-setting-3905873.html

This thread says since iOS 7 beta 4 LTE logo has been changed to 4G
http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/iphone-chat-room-240/singtel-carrier-update-4382425.html

I'm on Singtel 7.0.1

So when I see 4G, does it mean: 1) LTE logo has been changed to 4G and that I'm on LTE network or 2) I'm not on LTE network?

Apple has changed SG carrier LTE logo to 4G. Already happened in iOS 7 beta 5.

Taken from the iphone manual for iOS 7 (page 12) http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1565/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf

LTE (LTE): Your carrier’s LTE network is available, and iPhone can connect to
the Internet over that network. (iPhone 5 or later. Not available in all
areas.) See Cellular settings on page 149.

4G (UTMS): Your carrier’s 4G UMTS (GSM) or LTE network (depending on carrier)
is available, and iPhone can connect to the Internet over that
network. (iPhone 4S or later. Not available in all areas.) See Cellular
settings on page 149.

Another update:

GSM Networks use HSPA+, which companies like AT&T and T-Mobile called "4G", even though it was not true 4G but just upgraded 3G. The speeds were faster than 3G but slower than LTE.

On AT&T, T-Mobile, and many other GSM carriers, all the 3G systems were upgraded to HSPA+. After the upgrade the iPhone would say 3G until a software update (6.1 I think) that changed the 3G symbol to 4G when on an HSPA+ network.

When you see the 4G icon (instead of LTE) it means you are not on LTE, but on HSPA+. It is the equivelant to the CDMA phone's "3G" symbol (since CDMA does not support HSPA+, the symbol was not changed). When you connect to LTE, the symbol will come back.

ATT and TMo follow the United Nations ITU regulations for marketing.

3G was CDMA/HSPA upto around 3-7.2 mbps.
4G is HSPA+/DC operating in the 14-42mbps range.
LTE operates beyond up to around 100mbps.

3 very clear tiers.
