Looks like ProRaw is quite impressive. Only downside is it will take 20-25mb per picture. No wonder Apple is allowing us to buy more than 2tb of iCloud storage!😅

The thing that I have a problem with is managing photos on an iPhone.

Just from the gallery/Photos.app I can't tell which photos are .jpg or RAW. And organising/sorting/deleting them from the phone is annoying, wish I could do it from the desktop.

I believe the new ProRaw will show which is a raw file with “Raw” tagged to it

For older files, you can use apps like Metapho to check the meta data. That’s what I do when deciding which file to delete.

As for desktop, you can if you have a mac. That will make deletes easier as you can show “info” for each pic as you click on it. Helps in deleting duplicates and making sure you are keeping the original and not downscaled version

I wish they allow for better sharing of photos so that family doesn’t need to keep duplicate copies.

Shared album unfortunately doesn’t keep full resolution versions

If you look at the quality of the raw which incorporates the computational photography strengths and the kind of data you can pull from the dng, it is nothing short of amazing

It’s good for people that really need the raw format.

I don’t need it but am just very curious how it performs.

After running some test, I am officially impressed. The RAW file indeed captures a lot of data. I can pull out a lot of data from the shadows with minimal noise.

The picture is also not over sharpened in the HEIC in iOS 14.

Going to do more tests tomorrow!

Also found out how to do edit and save space by exporting to JPEG after edits. Unfortunately I can’t find a way to export to HEIC.

Release candidate is out. If nothing goes wrong, this will be the same as the 14.3 to be released
